A thing I like about getting my new Street Fighter Alpha 2 XT cab is I'm going to have a cab dedicated to the games that introduced characters like. Sakura here.. Her face is even in the background on the sideart!
I like how it has a 21" monitor because it's larger than what I have in the rest of my cabs but not overly so.. I'd run primarily games that originally just released on Japanese candy cabs or conversion kits on them!
I like how the size of the monitor tends to be in the model name of Japanese Candy Cab arcade machines..
This is a Joy-Ro 21. As you can tell from the name it comes equipped with a 21 inch monitor.. I'd like to have 2, one with a vertical monitor and one with a horizontal monitor!
Hi Neeky, how did you get to be so cute? Did you take special lessons? ๐๐
I love HRT Guygirl's art! ๐๐

Morning friends. There are still those amongst us that need to wake up.

Not necessarily.. I've seen vintage cabs retrofitted with card readers.. and some still also take quarters as well which I kinda wasn't aware you could do actually haha

This is an interesting and nice looking arcade but I can pretty much guarantee a lot of those cabinets aren't originals... ๐๐๐

It's something that I like about modern emulation.. being able to load stuff from that from solid state drives thus getting around any load time problems they may have had on original hardware.
A lot of people like to imply real is always better than alternatives. But Real isn't always synonymous with better. In fact sometimes there are benefits.. Like for example with disc images one can back them up and load them higher performance than from a "real ODD"..
I had a thought tonight watching an LGR video about optical drive emulators. Partway through he compared the emulator to a physical ODD calling the latter a "real" drive. Real in that scenario is just used to differentiate the two.
Also BTW I have a CRT TV setup with a raspberry pi but I actually prefer playing on my arcade cabinets despite them being LCD because the cab and controls make the games hit differently to a TV setup.. but I do still like having the CRT as an alternative
That seems to be getting better in home arcade cabs btw.. previous ones used kinda older monitors to be able to use non widescreen ~4:3ish aspect ratios but my newest cab arriving next month is equipped with a 120Hz 16:9 monitor matted to 4:3 instead..
That kinda supports what you and I said I've realized because they can just repackage and rename things and people wont notice the difference especially well packaged.. haha ๐
But it is pretty interesting to know that the ASICs in the new Neo Geo are really repackaged FPGA after all..
Hell, on my fighting game cabs I've performed the same advanced combos as I used to do and see friends do on OG cabs back in the day!
Right, especially if it's well packaged and has the right peripherals and that really makes a difference as I've noticed with my own stuff and especially well configured and paired with the right core/emu emulation is no slouch as I've said it's pretty mature these days especially for older games
That looks perfect considering you were just "trying"! ๐๐
Calling it Salad Cookies does make it look sad but sliced cucumbers are a good snack especially with the right seasoning and or dressing as dip!
It would be cool to have it be my natural hair color but I would also like hair that can change colors at any time or mood like in the Mila Jovovich movie Ultraviolet!!
Hey look, it's a Soviet Union arcade.. this sort of thing is kinda ugly but endearing to me because of the history TBH! ๐๐๐
To be honest it is entirely possible that they might have messed some things up in the Dolby Atmos remix but the height/overhead channel usage is pretty awesome and it still has a substantial amount of LFE (bass) that rocks my room so I personally like it regardless of any foibles it may have.
There's a video on YouTube with the click bait title asking whether the original theatrical DTS CD tracks are better than the current 4K Blu-Ray lossless track for The Matrix.
I so hope Bound by The Wachowskis gets Dolby Atmos in its 4K release and there's a good chance it might because most of their filmography has received it or is going to on Blu-Ray as it is. The Matrix Quadrilogy, Speed Racer, Jupiter Ascending and V for Vendetta are examples of their films with it!
IMHO if the BBC wants to make the Doctor Who blu-rays attractive to buy they would add Dolby Atmos to them like they have with some of the classic Doctor Who blu-rays I have and in the works like the 1996 Doctor Who TV movie with Paul McGann is getting Dolby Atmos.
