A very nice weatherproof shed, a hot tub, and a detached mother-in-law style building on our property for a home gym.

If you can put your ego aside the work is there. It may not be top billing, but it's work, and experience, and reputation. The last part being the most important bit.

I can't tell you the number of roles I've gotten because I was willing to play a role I hadn't auditioned for, or roles I've been offered and accepted when the director's first choice wasn't available.

If there was one piece of advice I could give to young actors, I would impress upon them the importance of being accessible and flexible.

a man is pulling a rope in the water with a yellow belt that says t on it Alt: a man is pulling a rope in the water with a yellow belt that says t on it. He is jumping over a shark. He is The Fonz. Regardless of whether the show was any good after this the Fonz was still the coolest.

I thought the whole Pizza Hut/Everquest 2 deal was pretty cringe back in the day, but Zillow and World of Warcraft??

TEN MINUTES

But we keep trusting them because we think there was something special about them that boosted their success that one time.

And it works…sometimes. But it fails spectacularly a lot. Not only that, but almost every popular leader (political or business) in history is mostly known for a few spectacular wins that really just average out over their lifespan.

Those things are pesky and get in the way of “business,” and if you want to win big you have to risk big and ignore all that silly data.

This probably deserves a deeper dive, but I believe that one of the (many) issues with our current president, and capitalism in general, is that it relies too heavily on “gut instincts” and lionizes people who succeed by following them. People who scoff at the idea that they need advisors or facts.

First of all, maybe TSA agents are quitting because they don’t want to sleep in their cars since they can’t afford gas.

Second, ICE agents are barely trained to be ICE agents. Now they’re being put in airports to do TSA’s job with zero training. What could go wrong?

PAY TSA AGENTS, NOT ICE.

Ugh. Yes. Did not stick the landing there. And Cheetolini having an army of Firefly fans would indeed be terrifying and slightly apropos. (Adam Baldwin is MAGA)

Definitely not a fan of the fact that ICE seems to be turning into the 2026 version of the Browncoats.

So we decline to pay the TSA and opt instead to pay people who were hired to do an entirely different job and have no experience working security in an airport. If they aren’t doing the job they were hired to do how about we fire them and train the people who had the job in the first place? No?

I mean, honestly…another republican president, another foreign war. Stock market dropping. Gas prices skyrocketing. Lots of economic uncertainty and the job market is a mess. Does anyone notice a pattern yet? Just me?

Less ugly, more good trouble. Thanks.

I don’t want to sound like one of those “more flies with honey” people, but you are never gonna change minds by being vicious in every post you make. It’s just ugly, and I don’t need more ugly in my life these days.

Yep. Just remembered why I stopped following [author] on Twitter. I love his work and agree with all of his politics but all he posts is screaming tirades against the administration. I unfollowed a former MSNBC host for the same reason.

I'm so tired of all this "winning"

I break one of the cardinal rules of having a 401k by checking its balance every day. In my defense, it's automatic as part of my daily Quicken updates, and I don't do anything with the data...but it's pretty wild to have watched my net worth drop by 7% in the last few weeks.

Woof. I was about 30 pounds heavier than I am now in that picture. Makes a big difference. Considering I've gained 30 pounds in the last six months I need to watch that shit.

So I guess I really shouldn't worry about it and have some grace for myself, but damn.

Not to mention the fact that it fundamentally changed my physiology and how I move throughout the world on top of absolutely rocking my mental health to the very core.

Sometimes I worry about the fact that I mention my cancer and recovery so often. I'm convinced people are sick of hearing about it. But, like...it was a really big deal. I try not to think about how really big it was and how close I was to dying for multiple reasons.

But hey, my 401K is...wait...hold on a second...This just in...we have breaking news from Quicken...

Imagine my surprise when I saw that the bill for our most recent auto-ship order was approaching twice what we normally pay. Looked around at several different sites and that's the case across the board. Price increases anywhere from 60-80% higher than we've been paying, regardless of brand.

We've been buying suet for two bird feeders at our house for years. We go through two a day, so it's been a pretty pricey thing to do, but we enjoy feeing the wildlife around the house and it makes us and the cats happy so it's been worth it.
