This is probably true, but there’s also a structural issue having to do with the Iraq and Afghanistan wars being taken out of CENTCOM’s direct control and placed in the hands of new 4-star theater headquarters 20+ yrs ago, leaving CENTCOM with little to do *but* plan for confrontation with Iran.

True that. I submitted a FOIA to CENTCOM years ago asking for that data and they never responded

So it was a shorter interview than I had hoped for. Maybe ten minutes, tops, of me saying "really? you don't recall anything at all about that?"

Back in 2014 or 2015 I reached out to Mike Flynn about it since my understanding was that he was the J2 in Iraq when those attacks happened. He told me he didn't recall ever hearing anything about RPG-29s taking out friendly tanks, which surprised me given his Iran-hawk persona

Does anyone ever talk about the Hezbollah groups that took out some Abrams tanks around Baghdad with RPG-29s? I think I remember that happening around 2007
