The stats in this report are shocking. And this line is key to what must happen now…

The Government must invest in children’s mental health as an investment in the future of society.

Traitors' Alexander inspires fans to donate to Mencap - BBC News Alexander Dragonetti says he is "so grateful" for donations to Mencap, which helped his brother.

This is lovely. It shows that even a programme like The Traitors, which in many ways celebrates negative characteristics in people, has also inspired people in a positive way.

Also fab PR for Mencap and great interview by its CEO on Radio 5Live just now.

A green parrot or macaw with a red face and yellow tail at tropical birdland in desford, leicestershire

We’d hoped that an escapee parrot or something exotic from nearby Tropical Birdland might fly into our garden and lans just as we were doing the #BigGardenBirdwatch, but no!

a small bird with a red head is perched on a tree branch Alt: A robin is perched on a tree and bobbing up and down

#BigGardenBirdwatch done ✅

A paltry total of 4 woodpigeons and a robin 😢

A blackbird and some magpies flew overhead to taunt us.

Surpised that my 10-year-old stayed interested for so long, less surprised in his attempt to persuade me there was a peacock in our (very small) garden. 🦚

Ha. Or are they ground down and pushed to the bottom, despite a belief that they could be floating higher up?

My meeting heavy day is being fuelled by dilly ding coffee. Lovely!

Obvious jokes in response about something needed to fuel some better #lcfc performances allowed, maybe.

a soccer player wearing a blue jersey that says king power on it Alt: Jamie Vardy going ‘sssssshhhh’

2025 starting well, as I’m currently top of my husband’s work’s fantasy premier league table (which I was only allowed to join on condition I don’t win it)

And yes I’ve used a Jamie Vardy gif here, even though he’s not in my team. #lcfc players have not done well for me this season 😢🦊

Yes, absolutely people can stop using it. But also, there are many positives to social media and many ways it can connect people and be a good thing. It’s a shame that’s being diluted and damaged by recent decisions that, in my view, are harmful and ridiculous.

Excitement and energy from
#LCFC today. I thought they played well, but just didn’t do enough for the three points.

This match is also notable for the first time I’ve ever had to find somewhere to park to go to a home match. Obviously I parked outside our old house!

Weekend success was putting together the new kitchen table so we could sit and have breakfast, drink coffee and read Sunday paper at it this morning.

Ultra-processed news - why local journalism has gone weird If you’ve looked at a local news website lately, you may have got the feeling that something’s not quite right. Seeking stories about your own area, you click on an interesting headline and find yours...

A sad but true account of local newspaper journalism in 2024. The industry and profession I loved being part of for more than a decade has changed beyond belief in the past few years.

Blue sky, trees (with no leaves) and fields.

Inside the house, on my day off, playing around with Blue Sky, when I could actually head outside and enjoy the real blue sky (and the bracing, cold air!)

Time to put down my phone and go for a walk!
