Under the Banner of Heaven by Jon Krakauer is the big unflinching non-fiction on Mormons/fundamentalists. Not religious, but his Everest book, Into Thin Air, is also legendary and I’ll never skip a chance to recommend it.

re the running robot. I’m sure the engineers had fun, but you know, if a self-driving car did a half marathon at that pace it would be a colossal failure. If the goal is speed, why would you build a bipedal robot for this task?
