The reason working & middle income earners in Australia can have a comfortable life is because of things such as Medicare. Big business hates that fact, it means we are not as slavishly dependent upon them as Americans are.

I think it’s actually proddysplaining, he’s only been a catholic for 2 minutes & he thinks he knows more about the catholic faith than the Pope.

This has always been my point, it’s the CGT discount that is the biggest issue

The only Green pol I have ever liked is Sarah Hansen Young, she comes across as pragmatic & wanting to achieve stuff, the rest just repeat slogans. Locally where I live they also only seem to attack Labor. I have good state(Jonty Bush) & federal (Madonna Jarret) Labor reps who I happily vote for.

I think housing needs a 3 level of gov partnership, where the feds can help fund the infrastructure to ensure livable communities are built & not just overloaded sardine suburbs or sprawling suburban deserts.

Also re housing, I definitely agree, the Qld Miles Labor gov was doing great work. Unfortunately the LNP are undoing it all & setting us back

I agree with all your points but re points 1 & 2, I don’t vote on foreign policy, re fossil fuels, they are doing that, re taxation, hopefully they move to a much fairer system, the’ve done a little but we need more. However, the history of this country shows that the dial must be moved slowly.

What policy would you like the Australian government to implement? Because I don’t believe Australia has lots of power to do much. That’s why I don’t base my vote on foreign policy, I base my vote on domestic policy. Between Labor & orhers, Labor’s domestic policy aligns most with my general values

👀 this is fantastic #Pope promotion from the Chicago #WhiteSox and a pretty poignant statement for the time we are in.

I want a majority Labor government, so I vote Labor. That shouldn’t be hard to understand

Polling & election results confirm that people prioritise local economic matters over the politics of most foreign policy issues.

But you are not a Labor person, it’s great you had an independent that you felt comfortable voting for. I vote Labor because I want a Labor government

If Labor isn’t in power of course they can’t implement policies.

What part of, Labor woukd never win if they just bevame the Greens don’t you understand? Just like the LNP will never win by becoming One Nation

1 week ago 1 0 1 0

So I have to make a decision, do I abandon Labor because they aren’t doing what I would like on Palestine? Or do I prioritise the domestic polcies they are implementing that I support? Nowhere am I being an apologist for policies I don’t agree with

1 week ago 0 0 2 0

Of course they could & I would have supported them had they but your question indicates you either don’t understand what I was saying or you just ignored my point. Most Australians, unfortunately don’t want our gov talking about foreign policy issues & endorsed the low key approach.

No doubt you would have opposed Medicare when Hawke brought it because it didn’t go far enough by not nationalising the entire health system. Better to have nothing than a centrist policy that is supported by the majority

1 week ago 0 0 2 0

Yep the points made are pretty obvious, it’s surprising they need to be repeated

1 week ago 0 0 1 0

Labor can only ever win by combining left votes & centrist votes. I’m a socialist but I understand that if Labor did everything I wanted they’d never win. I’d rather they do some of what I want than having the right in power destroying everything

The performative left, have no interest in a Labor gov achieving gradual change. They enjoy decrying incrementalism & mock it as centrist as though centrist is an insult
