Right back at you, my love. If you haven't tried that new Advil, it's worth a shot. Nothing seems to FIX it entirely for me, but this definitely makes it so I can function through the bad days. Even when I have to stare into my light box all day for work. Shooting terrible stuff like this.

I got the 50% tint ones in my full progressive Rx and they're OK but I think I'm gonna need a pair of the 80% ones too. I might also get a pair with NO Rx for trying to read with, since I see better for reading with 0 correction than with my Progressives. Exciting shopping plans, I know!

I woke up with my first of the season at 5am yesterday as well. At my last doc appointment, she recommended the newish Advil with Acetaminophen. It definitely takes the edge off more than anything else I've tried. But I'm also looking at ordering more of the Zenni migraine glasses after my new Rx...

I think I struggle because my art tends to be SO surreal and abstract but my writing is always very literal. But literal descriptions are OK because I'm still allowing the "viewer" the space and grace to interpret what they "see" on their own. It's so simple, yet it LITERALLY never occurred to me.

Also, this is brilliant and the exact way I needed to "see" this thing I find so challenging. There was a time, back when I was making art regularly years ago, when we had a scare that my mum may be losing her vision. I need to channel that feeling into making this a priority.

I love and admire YOU so much. You make me think about things. You make me want to figure out how to be the best me I can be, to enjoy all the beauty in the world...

I've been thinking about this even more lately, and realize that, separate from my inability to describe my art, I just don't feel good at describing THINGS in general. When I read YOUR Alt Text, it's always so poetic and beautifully written. I could never. Mine would literally be shit like...

And yes. I understand that the point of Alt Text is inclusivity, which I think is very important, but also, it prickles me ina specific place that I dislike being prickled in. I just can't describe or explain my art. I can't and I don't want to.*stomps foot like insolent child*

I actually titled one of my early solo exhibitions "My Love For You Is Not Defined By The Things I Will Not Tell You". It was basically my response to the gallery owner being upset that I refused to write an artist statement about the show. I was like, "Girl, I love you but NO."

As an artist who actively rebelled against artist statements and describing my art, I really struggled with adding alt text when I first joined BlueSky and eventually stopped doing it because describing my artwork actively infuriated me. Which I realize is dumb. But it's true.

I turned 50 this past weekend. My amazing husband arranged a private party at our friend's tiki bar, Porco, and invited a bunch of friends, surprised me with a couple, had a chef friend bring in food, and bought me a Dead Milkmen tee and a Lego Robert Indiana LOVE statue kit. I am so blown away. 🥰
