I don't mind a book being late. I don't mind the colors being, honestly, mediocre in the digital edition and being disappointing overall. But making me wake for something I'm not going to love while trying to talk to me like a piss poor PSA from '04 is my limit. Talk to me like an adult, man.
Email reads "Hi everyone! If you don't know me yet, I'm AL, your new friend at Alien Books. I'm your point of contact, your source for information on present and future projects on Kickstarter and here to update you on the status of your orders. There's been a lot of changes and we have not been spared by world drama. First, it was our former distributor going bankrupt and seizing all of our inventory. Then it was issues with fulillment, then transportation… Argh. Can a publisher catch a break here? Anyhow. You have questions, the biggest one being: "DUDE, WHERE IS MY BOOK?". Glad you asked. " before being cuttoff by screenshot.
Killing myself tomorrow and my suicide note will just be this cringe ass email I got from Alien Books explaining why their Zorro print is still not out yet.
I wanted Cass to have a phone call with her dad and @polluxery.bsky.social delivered. She's about to make Bane have a really bad day.

Three panel comic. Panel 1: person who has post-op bandages wrapped around their nose, nervously holding someone’s hand. Another speaker off panel says, “alright… let’s get these bandages off.” Panel 2: the person is gleefully looking at themself in a handheld mirror, their friends are overjoyed. Their new nose is a gigantic, elongated and pointed sword shape. Panel 3: they are jumping out of the ocean with a smile on their face, in unison with two swordfish who are also breaching the water.
You’ve seen them in Summit: Pinnacle #1, but get ready for Trench’s solo adventure as they hit Hollywood in search of the evil that resides in the shadows. See you in May 😈. @readsummit.bsky.social

Ooooooh so all that "superior gene" talk was just Sydney Sweeney preparing for live-action Gundam. that actually tracks now.
Nah its a heavy conversation haha
It sucks seeing more layoffs, but especially in the comic space and especially at a smaller publisher. Mad Cave was supposed to be an entryway for the next wave of talent and more and more it seems to be closing its doors to that pursuit. Best of luck to all hurt by this, comics need you!
Hi there! Some news, but as of this morning, I am no longer with Mad Cave. I am eternally grateful for the past 4.5 years with you all, and with such an amazing team.
Thank you so much for trusting me with marketing your books!
like I have Opinions about Mad Cave (and a few warnings, esp for female creators) that I will happily share in the DMs but none of the people laid off are part of that (in many cases they were actively trying to make the pub better/ more inclusive) and my heart goes out to them
Got to speak to James at comic con and he was incredibly patient, polite, and engaging. A huge loss for Mad Cave but I hope a great grab for another company soon. Best of luck, James!
Hey folks, after nearly 4 years at Mad Cave, I was let go this morning. It was a wonderful time getting to work with an amazing list of creators. If we have worked together, please stay in touch. I am available for freelance editing and would love to work with you all in the future.
Oh damn a bunch of layoffs at Mad Cave… friends if you have a book there you may want to check in on status (and that your editor’s still employed)
I'm curious what trans and drag queens/kings feel about this portrayal. Is it similar to Rocky Horror where it was somewhat offensive at a time but has since been embraced and I'm behind on the woke curve? I definitely wouldn't say I'm offended, but I am curious if it is offensive.
..of the show, such was the case in both of the productions I saw, but it's also the ONE character in the show with this aesthetic being used and the portrayal is always vastly comedic. So the one trans/drag character is a villain who dooms Jesus and is for jokes. At the same time, they ALWAYS slay.
Reuben Kaye as herrod in the 2016 London Theatre production of JSC
Thinking about Jesus Christ Superstar, unsurprisingly, and what a gay show it is lol I love the show, but the one thing I have mixed feelings on is the modern depiction of Herrod as clearly drag and imo trans inspired. It's a great aesthetic for the character and is usually one of the highlights...
SONOYA MIZUNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO LET'S FUCKING GO (I do not care for Elden Ring)
just had a client hit me with a full-on folder of A.I. generated "sketches" as reference material for my illustration work while I was already suspecting his script was generated with an A.I. - welp, red card, no dice!
Hey! You know what rhymes with A.I.?
Extremely normal and fine for a company to put this in a public statement
We also got a trams drag Herrod which is very in and I have mixed thoughts on, but they killed it
Someone who didn't get a clear view literally screamed in excitement for a few seconds, so pretty fucking gay
Love seeing queer people gyrate and squirm on the floor. Anyway, loved Jesus Christ Superstar this time as much as I did the first. Saw it on a much smaller stage and the cast did a fantastic job making it work and the Judas? Actually standing ovation worthy. Still THEE musical of all time.
Manga also does lettering different from western comics if I'm not mistaken
You lost my respect (jkjk)
I hate running so i have so much respect for you doing this lol keep up the good work!
No part of the comic book creation process should be treated as an inconvenience
