When I lived in Sweden for a while, I drove the Øresund Strait Bridge from Malmo to Copenhagen (I love the Danes), and got a huge kick seeing the Lillgrund wind farm doing its thing.
When I lived in the South of France for a while, there was a solitary turbine on the nearby hill. It made me grin.

To understand why the USA is where it is today, all you need to do is see that Trump cannot tolerate even the mildest, insightful criticism from the Pope, but Trump will allow Putin to humiliate him deeply and constantly, while still craving Putin’s approval.
On just one night this week, Russia sent nearly 700 drones & dozens of missiles at Ukrainian civilians. In the 5th year of the war, aerial attacks on Ukrainian civilians have become even more intense & more frequent. Please join me in this campaign for air defense equipment. You can help save lives.
1/3. And this is one more reason the war goes on in some form — people close to Trump are making money from it.

How can we trust the UCP to uphold the law when their thirst for power will always be more important than democracy?
Choropleth map of fertilizer application per hectare of cropland in 2023, measured in kilograms of total nutrient per hectare, where East and South Asian countries and Brazil show the highest application rates while much of Africa and some other regions show low application. 📊 Billions of people depend on synthetic fertilizers. Track how they're produced, traded, and used.
Fertilizers have played an essential role in feeding a growing global population. It's estimated that just under half of the people alive today are dependent on synthetic fertilizers.
😀, 🤔 Simple answer: there's money to be made!
Ah, you might want to rethink the full democracy label bestowed on Canada. Let's start with #Alberta, the GoA's artful disparaging of key elements of the judicial system, starting with judges.
Then, there's the targeted use of the Notwithstanding Clause to avoid judicial review altogether.
No buyer’s remorse here. Just lower energy bills, comfier homes, and air conditioning for our hotter summers.

Hey, @acoyne.bsky.social hi-speed and fast passenger can add up, if the freight trains didn't monopolise the tracks! CN and CPKC owned them. Maybe it's a logistic and marketing issue.
Maybe the numbers can sum!
No it doesn't 🤫! Adding another browser is unnecessary, IF apps and devices talked to one another. Currently, they are purposely designed to keep the gardens walled, not to facilitate a simple user experience . #DuckDuckGo , #Apple.

Exploring AI through #DuckDuckGo is challenging. Chats are ok. Syncing and backing up, pinned chats, can't be done without using the DuckDuckGo browser.

This story is a microcosm of what the UCP has become under Premier Danielle Smith's regime. @matthewblack.ca deserves the public's thanks for pursuing records that the UCP govt had absolutely no legal reason to withhold. Evidence of Smith's growing authoritarianism is on full display here.
If you perform yard cleanup this (gorgeous) weekend, you're committing pollinator-cide.
It's not time yet. The bugs and bees are still sleeping. Leave your leaves and delay yard cleanup until it warms up consistently.
Don't kill the bees.
Two days apart.
BIG warming trend through the next four days with daytime highs in double digits this weekend and near 20 Mon/Tue. Here's your Fri WxBlast video: www.ctvnews.ca/edmonton/vid... #yegwx
“Oilers top six group is pretty good, and the rest are a bunch of blots ready to be exploited. Dickinson hasn’t been the solution for the bottom six group… The defence group has one solid pairing and the rest is a spot of bother.”
Brace yourself Oilers fans!

🧵Trump's war against Pope Leo is about something far larger than his foreign wars, it's actually a struggle for control of American Christianity.
This thread will summarize the main points of my latest essay about how Trumpism is a replacement Christianity. Continue or click through:
Maybe in Canada there’s a social good element to a high speed rail system. Maybe, as Mr. Coyne writes, there’s a this how we do things in Canada and we excel at some of them, like believing it’s proper to offer citizens universal healthcare!
There's a lot of numbers that don’t add up in #Canada Airfares, Internet fees, both are extremely monopolistic and the service is lousy. Mr. Coyne laments these as impediments to creating a more informed respectful and democratic Canada.
Or in Alberta we pay taxes anyway, which the province pockets (?) and funds private services in a blatant violation of the Canada Health Act, and possibly our Charter rights.
With a huge caveat - its wild how inexpensive modern electricity is for the average household.
*huge caveat being this is on average and there absolutely needs to be programs and support to address the real challenge of energy poverty.

As the Earth warms, accurate weather forecasts will become more important for reducing heat-related deaths. Forecasters believe forecasts will continue improving through 2100. But earth observation networks and weather models cost money to run. In PNAS: https://ow.ly/L51G50YLf1h
