Time. Money. Assets.

Too many poor decisions that didn't work out over a 6 year span, it's that simple.

*Significant dead money on the books this year for guys like Laken Tomlinson, JFM, Zach Wilson, Uzomah, Carl Lawson, Duane Brown, Mecole Hardman etc.

*Significant dead money most likely on the books next year for guys like Reddick, Lazard, Tyron Smith, etc.

*The lack of depth on roster, specifically on DL, was a recipe for disaster. That disaster struck early with Jermaine Johnson injury+Reddick holdout, didn't have guys to make up for that. $7 mil to Kinlaw in FA was a big miss

*Safety has been a problem on the roster for as long as I can remember

*Was given a chance to go for a vet to fix that...didn't work with Rodgers

*Missed on LT with Becton, multiple veteran options to fix that didn't work. Olu will be a good one but couldn't take a much needed playmaker because of that glaring hole

There are obviously multi-layered issues with the Jets, but Joe Douglas was given as great a shot you can ask for as a GM

*Didn't work with the first coach, got to hire his own

*Was given a chance to select a QB with a top 2 pick after not building things around Darnold, didn't work...
