Despite his success, Linder struggled with depression and financial difficulties later in his career. He tragically died by suicide in 1925.
Linder's most famous character was "Max," a dapper and elegant gentleman who would find himself in various humorous and often absurd situations. Linder was a major influence on other comedians such as Charlie Chaplin and Harold Lloyd.
Max Linder (1883-1925) was a French actor, director, and screenwriter who is best known for his work in silent films. He appeared in over 300 films during his career and was considered a pioneer of physical comedy on screen.
