Easiest prompt of my life. Even got his grimy little ass in different stages.

Caedes: The Bloody Bard

Bhaal was still a dead divinity when Caedes was created, so he used the tether of that spot and his spilled blood to manifest him, rather than making him the conventional way like Sarevok or Gorion's Ward.

His dagger, Bloodthirst, manifested from the victim's bloodstain in the same location. He returned to that spot to obtain it.

Caedes manifested from an old bloodstain Bhaal left during his first murder. He spilled forth as a mass of bone, nerves, and meat, organs and sinews stitching themselves together and then flesh growing over it into the form of an infant.

The original idea for Caedes was a Barbiebarian sort of joke but as I pared him down I ended up landing on someone who, if not for the red eyes, black eye makeup, self-inflicted scarification, and Abyssal tattoos, could pass for a somewhat-normal fantasy protagonist design.

Caedes is 39 at the start, though he looks to be somewhere in his 20s and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future due to being a Bhaalspawn.

Whether as Kris, Bhaal's Chosen, or the modern Caedes, he continually seeks to fill the void that losing his adoptive family left within him. He yearns for positive reinforcement and fears isolation, and Bhaal superficially met these needs by giving him a cult and removing the burden of conscience.
