Havent studied this professionally but used public transport all my life, and can state that for me showing up and seeing 10 minutes or more to wait feels frustrating. 6-9 minutes is ok-ish, 5 or less feels good. The gold standard should be a 5 minutes rythm, if at all possible.

Though, indeed, the post reunification differences seem sharper at the borders than the pre-WW2 differences. So there do seem to be some causal effects of the separation.

I suspect this is a HUGELY underestimated factor in radicalization. If you look at, say, QAnon boards, it’s not really folks looking for scapegoats for their dire material circumstances. It’s middle-class people with boring lives who want to imagine they’re in The Parallax View.
