Andrew “more is more” Sartorius. I have much to learn from you!
Hey thanks, Lysanne!
Happy Friday, all!
This morning’s mug is by Matt Long. That movement! That beautiful carbon trapping! It’s a good one.
lots of play happening in the studio recently.
Took a great webinar with Rhonda Willers yesterday and today I’ve made my first batch of terra sig. Wish me luck siphoning tomorrow! 🤞
Had fun playing with handles today. Going for something a little weightier. These cups will get wood fired in April.
Great suggestion, Karen. Thank you! Wasn’t familiar with Peter’s Valley and it looks like they have some exciting workshops!
Have yet to sign up for any workshops this summer and am actively looking for wood firing opportunities. Any leads, feel free to send them my way!
So good, Amy!
It is a snowy Sunday morning here in Brooklyn. Feels appropriate to start my day with this beautiful @noelbaileyceramics.bsky.social mug.
So sorry this happened!
A lot to love about this Perry Haas mug: the movement in the clay, the cool grays and blues, and that handle!
Love this pot!
We’re using @neilcelaniceramics.bsky.social rattle mugs this morning.
I do want to get better at note-taking, though. Big goal for 2025.
I have always been averse to making test tiles. All of my work is a test. I make in small batches and am not especially precious about it. I’d rather get in the practice of making a dozen mugs than testing slips & stains on little tiles. This isn’t efficient but I’m maybe a better potter for it?
A wood-fired mug from @theokidokistudio.bsky.social ‘s Train Kiln. OD just announced their summer workshops (Germantown, NY). A great studio - can’t recommend enough!

Making some assumptions that this is 1) not great for kiln elements 2) food safe on exterior of drinking vessel, though not very durable.
Any fellow potters have experience using a soda ash wash in ^6 electric firings (1:3 ash to warm water)? Curious about this vs ^6 glaze, especially over terra sig.
Lovely
A road in winter
Lots of texture and information. Need to figure out surface treatment. Thinking white slip / dyed slip. Still very unsure of a clear ^6 glaze. Terra Sig is an option but a whole new can of worms. Always distracted by form.
Wow, Eric! Really like that pink one-finger mug! Looks like it would be super comfortable!
Love the bowl. & those wad marks are something special!
Really excited to dig in to this!
