Really liked the first half. It completely lost me in the second half.

What a brilliant year for games, and a terrible year for the people that make them.

For a while now, we've been spending way more money than we earn, investing in the next evolution of Epic and growing Fortnite as a metaverse-inspired ecosystem for creators. I had long been optimistic that we could power through this transition without layoffs, but in retrospect I see that this was unrealistic.

It's fucking wild that CEO/Company bosses can run companies like this and be fine. They'll keep running the place while people lose their jobs.

as someone who's 0% game dev, i can't speak to much of the Unity stuff in any intelligent way. but I will say it's generally not a good sign for something when it's managed to universally piss off the game dev folks i follow to the point that it feels like i'm watching a council of angry wizards
