IOPC investigates 11 officers over handling of fatal Wimbledon school crash The families of Nuria Sajjad and Selena Lau, who died at an end-of-term tea party, say the initial investigation was flawed.

A shred of hope from the Met that the investigation of the crash that killed Nuria Sanjay and Selena Lau will now be properly scrutinised by the IOPC.

A decent crash investigation is crucial for bereaved families and seriously injured survivors of traffic collisions.

3 years and a reopened investigation and still no decision to charge. This kind of pace and indeed approach still seems absolutely standard for roads investigation in the Met. We won't get to Vision Zero without a major cultural and institutional shift & effort from Police. Not holding my breath.

Relieved to see this - misconduct inquiry over fatal schoolgirl crash - hopefully it will give the families some peace of mind after their daughters were cruelly torn from them. Any death by a vehicle is unacceptable.

Our system relies on children to look both ways because adults driving don't. Great strategy.

It may seem like nerdy detail that the increasing weight of cars is worsening potholes, but it matters.

The car makers push to sell wider and heavier cars is increasing road maintenance costs and that affects us all.

Not to mention worse crash outcomes and less space to pass (wider) parked cars.

Close the youth centres and shut down local support and then act surprised that young people are hanging out online and in public being quite annoying (and even frightening shoppers/shop workers)?

We should recognise closing community hubs has consequences and invest properly in youth services.

This is a really important change and I’m very glad to see that government is thinking about reducing road danger and looking out for people walking, wheeling (and cycling).

Drilling for more oil & gas in the North Sea won't lower bills, it won't make us more energy independent and it won't insulate us from price shocks.

A Labour backslide on this would be a huge betrayal.

Double down on renewables. Insulate every home. Lower bills, permanently.

Somehow our streets have become taken over by vehicles. We’ve allowed the needs of motor traffic to dictate the experience of everyone getting around or hanging around on our streets.

🚗 💨 🚚💨 🚦

And children have lost out more than any of us. We can do so much better.

When cars kill, it's just the cost of doing business. When e-bikes get popular, suddenly we need strict ordinances to stop "accidents".

I picked up on research by @cleancitiescampaign.org showing that there's a 56% uptick in cars entering the C Charge zone in the weekday evening peak of 6-7pm (6,170 entries), compared to the morning peak of 8 - 9am (3,955 entries), when the Congestion Charge and car parking controls end.

Thanks Caroline. It's worrying to see this happening across London. I was alerted to it by changes to the 371 bus which provides an essential service to my ward Ham as it has no train or tube. Reducing the frequency of the 371 will force more people to use cars or taxis. TfL needs to think again.

Revealed: 40 London bus routes have been cut back in last two years Inner London boroughs such as Camden, Islington, Hackney and Westminster have borne the brunt of the changes

In the flurry of outstanding answers to my Mayor’s Questions that came in last week was one sharing the extent of bus cuts in London.

Persuading more people to catch the bus would help the Mayor meet his transport targets, but bus cuts won’t help with that! 🤷‍♀️

Caroline Russell AM: Letter on introducing a statutory duty for councils to provide public toilets Caroline Russell makes the case for Government to bring in the requirement that local councils have a statutory duty to provide public toilets with funding

I've written to Sec of State, Steve Reed MP calling for a statutory duty for councils to provide public toilets and for govt to commit ring fenced funding.

Access to public toilets is a public health issue as the @londonlooalliance.bsky.social will attest.

At last night’s Peoples’ Questiontime, the frightening attacks in Golders Green were raised.

Antisemitism has no place in our city or country. My thoughts are with the Jewish community and all affected.

We must stand firmly against antisemitism and Islamophobia, hate and division cannot win.

Green opposition questions council's Forest e-bike decision The Richmond and Twickenham Green Party opposes the Council's decision to replace Lime e-bikes with Forest, citing reduced choice and potential monopolies.

At Transport & Air Quality Committee meeting on Richmond Council, I voted against the Lib Dem decision to keep an #ebike monopoly, swapping Lime for Forest.
Two companies provides choice, resilience against operator failure and better connectivity across London.

You are five times more likely to survive being hit by a driver doing 20mph vs a driver doing 30mph.

Great to see Enfield rolling out new life saving 20mph zones.

Slow down. Slower speeds save lives. #VisionZeroLDN.
