One of the major election donors is the board chairman of voting machines company based out of Omaha. The machines are not auditable and closed source. This is my biggest fear.

So in many ways the job of the programmer is what it always was

Weve found it pretty great tbh. No politics, just folks wanting to share their work. Still a bit of spam but the linkedin algorithm is pretty good at combatting it IMO.

the only stty command i use is ‘stty sane’ which sometimes fixes a borked terminal 😆

TIL you can turn off terminal freezing though, omg! wow was that annoying when learning vim… 😅

Federation Architecture | Bluesky The AT Protocol is made up of a bunch of pieces that stack together. Federation means that anyone can run the parts that make up the AT Protocol themselves, such as their own server.

Does anyone have an at proto diagram that clearly illustrates the distributed architecture that's better than the one linked below? @atproto.com @atprotocol.dev

I'm struggling to find one and the one in the docs here is quite hand-wavy.

Why settle for a Garten when you could have a whole Forrest?

If SKYNET becomes a thing that breaks loose from it's creator, it'll probably be a live demo gone wrong. 😂

Keep saying your prayers to the demo gods, lest you be the one to release the wrath on society running that agentic workflow that allows full computer use. 🤖 ⛈️

So if tariffs are off the table, who the hell are going to pay our taxes??

Yet, I will still endeavor to remove all trailing whitespace.

I love that LLMs learned bad trailing whitespace habits. Dangling tabs and spaces everywhere. There's a little bit of human in them, or rather, a lot. They're the worlds largest experiment: etching the collective thoughts of billions of people into floating point numbers on silicon dioxide.

looks like possibly Go on the backend!

I don't yet have proof, but I'm pretty sure my nighttime productivity is largely improved because the critical SaaS products I use (github, cloudflare, google, anthropic, etc) are just less overloaded and have much lower latency.

Forget Cursor, Zed and Copilot. Who’s building the mobile native vibe coding app? Imagine how much more of the world that could program with a good mobile editor powered by AI. Most websites are boring but could use a fresh coat of paint.

A nice consequence of GenAI: Designers are going to become insanely more valuable because the next stage when UIs are easy to produce will be standing out with your design language. Let your creativity flowww!

Fun vibe-coding game to play: match the Figma using prompting alone!

I'm sure folks are sprinting to make that a reality (probably @Figma proper even), but until then it's pretty fun to play and crazy to see how quick progress you can make.

There's just something about describing a problem you're currently working on precisely to an LLM, having it spit out hundreds to thousands of lines of code that are very nearly exactly what you're looking for that keeps me hacking into the wee hours of the morning.

I've been a user of 1password for a long time but it saddens me to see the product degrade slowly over time. Tons of syncing issues and lack of clear documentation kills me. Reaching out to support in the past has not been helpful. What's going on over there?

The moment I knew the AI programmer was better than me was when it started including great documentation with every change... 😂😭

I didn't know Microsoft was rewriting Typescript before anyone else, but I sure am thrilled to learn it's being done in Go. Right tool for the job!

Excited to hear about it at future conferences. :-)

Engineering and product leadership should always get laptops a few tiers below what the rest of the team gets. Your users won't all have the best hardware, and someone on the team should be dogfooding the product on those specs. Might as well be leadership.

The best product managers probably understand this already and have put some effort into learning the basics of computer science, data structures and algorithms 101, to become 10x more effective in their role.

As AI coding improves, it's getting easier to produce the code you want with good prompts. But you have to have some level of understanding of computer science to get the best results.

Are Software Engineers going to put product managers out of work? Or are product managers going to put software engineers out of work? Are the roles going to merge? What do you think?
