I suppose these Israelis will be labelled anti-Semites.
My Irish grandfather would recite poetry taught to him by my Scottish grandmother. The poem was usually by Robbie Burns, the Ploughman poet. Man Was Made to Mourn, or at least part of it, seems relevant 242 years after the poem was written.

Man was made to mourn
When I was an adolescent, my Irish grandfather would recite poetry taught to him by my Scottish grandmother. The poem was usually by Robbie Burns, the Ploughman poet. I was always disinterested.
The Canadian province that claims to value individual freedoms does not want individuals free to decide what they will read. Those in power, determined to maintain their authority, generally support book banning. albertapolitics.ca/2026/04/albe...
Americans and Israelis justify killing innocent Iranian citizens because Iranian rulers killed innocent Iranians. The military-industrial complex, which thrives on daily warfare expenditures in the billions, designed this response, not diplomats or peacekeepers. The MIC abhors peace.
Americans and Israelis justify killing innocent Iranian citizens because Iranian rulers killed innocent Iranians. This response was designed not by diplomats but by the military-industrial complex that loves billions of dollars spent on warfare every day. The only thing the MIC abhors is peace.

Israel says, "We never agreed to a ceasefire in the residential areas of Lebanon."
USA’s military-industrial complex is a durable and entrenched system of aligned economic and governmental interests. With the national defence budget exceeding a trillion dollars in 2026, it must be the most successful political and economic structure ever constructed.

Belligerent and erratic
On March 21, Donald Trump threatened to obliterate parts of Iran if the Strait of Hormuz was not fully opened within 48 hours. Hours before that deadline, Trump delayed the bombing threat by three days because 'productive' talks were ongoing with Iran. He later extended the…
A rupture to the world order
In January, Mark Carnie told the World Economic Forum conference in Davos, Switzerland, about a "rupture to the world order." I was aware of the Prime Minister's speech to the WEF, but George Froehlich caused me to refocus on Carney's words.

America’s greediest industrial workers wear suits and ties
In a June 2024 subcommittee hearing, U.S. Senator Josh Hawley questioned Boeing CEO Dave Calhoun on the company's safety failures and Calhoun's lack of accountability. The Missouri politician accused Boeing's CEO of being focused on…
BC Hydro doesn’t want quickly available, low-cost energy
If David Eby's government supported or acquired the Hecate Strait project planned by Oceanic Wind Energy Inc., power could be flowing to the area to be served by the $10 billion North Coast Transmission Line (NCTL) by 2030, not 2034 or…
Powering our future
Lew Edwardson prepared the following item after the webinar prepared by Canada West Forum. Lew is a keen observer of current events and always articulate and accurate when expressing his views.
Canada and other nations will pay a high price for Trump's wargames with Iran. Eisenhower warned all about the USA's military-industrial complex.

The hole in the global energy supply…
The idiot crew around Donald Trump may have been so focused on personal enrichment schemes that they didn't bother to examine the medium- to long-term effects of waging war on Iran. Patrick Boyle makes a key point when he talks about "...the hole in the global…
Photo of Brent Toderian presenting on the “5 Crises” facing cities — the climate crisis, the housing/affordability crisis, the inequality crisis, the public health crisis, and the infrastructure cost crisis. Recently, we have added a sixth crisis, the Trump economic crisis.
3. And to be clear, not all change in cities is beneficial, and of course everyone always thinks the change THEY oppose is an example of that!
But our cities DO need substantial change to address the many challenges and crises we’re facing, & we frankly need to be MUCH better at communicating that!
I wish the Tla’amin Nation well as they move forward, shaping a future where the forest is not simply used but cared for in ways that sustain both the land and the people connected to it.

From whistle punk to witness
When I was in high school, I spent time working for my uncles at Mahood Logging Ltd. That experience took me deep into TFL 39, Block 1, to a camp known as Jim Brown Creek at the north end of Powell Lake. At 17, I was flown in by Piper Super Cub and set to work…
Opponents of wind power cite security of supply as a reason to avoid what is now the cheapest form of clean energy. Denmark's numbers tell a different story. 69% of electricity is from solar and wind, but security of supply is 99.996%.
Trump promised huge rewards to oil and gas companies, so he is willing to spend a billion dollars to shut down a project capable of providing the cheapest form of energy.

Experts from Canada and Denmark talk about wind providing clean energy for electrification of our world. Denmark has about 7,700 MW of wind capacity and 3,900 MW of solar capacity, providing 69% of their electricity. The country has 99.996% security of supply.
