Been there mate… that sucks. Get well soon.

Top-down view of a large sci-fi floor tile board painted in worn blue-green panels with metallic frames and several black-and-yellow hazard stripe plates, resting on a wooden tabletop.
Close-up of a riveted wall panel painted in faded military green with scattered orange rust patches and dark grime along the edges, photographed on a blue cutting mat.
Close-up of the same riveted wall panel after a darker pass, with stronger grime shading and heavier rust buildup along the bottom edge and around rivets, on a blue cutting mat.
Display update: all floor tiles done, they turned out pretty decent. For the walls, my first idea was a kind of faded military paintjob. That really wasn’t it. Tried adapting the floor tile scheme instead: much better. Still not 100% happy with the rust yet… but we’ll get there. #ArmyOnDisplay
Unpainted sci-fi floor tile panel on a blue gridded cutting mat. The panel has nine square plates with rivet details and a circular vent grille in the center.
The same sci-fi floor tile after a test paint job on a blue cutting mat. The panel is dark and weathered with dusty highlights; one corner tile has yellow-and-black hazard stripes and small rust patches around the edges.
Painted a test tile today to get a first feel for the material and workflow for the display. For a bit over 2 hours of work, I’m actually pretty happy with it, almost a shame I won’t be able to use this one for the #ArmyOnDisplay display.

Same here. Started painting minis about a year ago, so I’m still figuring it out one model at a time.
Thank you Marty 😃
Thanks mate. Always trying my best 😃.
Thanks mate 😃
Cheers — I’m filing this under “good enough to post” 😂
Front view of a painted Techmarine in red armor on a rubble-strewn grey base, stepping forward with a raised axe-like polearm. Multiple servo-arms and tools extend from his backpack; green eye lenses and Imperial Fists icon on the knee.
Left-side view of the Techmarine showing the yellow Imperial Fists shoulder pad and hazard-striped cables. A large red servo-arm and metal mechadendrites reach forward while he carries the axe staff.
Rear view of the Techmarine, highlighting the backpack-mounted servo-arms, mechadendrites, and brown pouches on the belt. The axe staff is held upright as he stands on the grey rubble base.
Front three-quarter view of the Techmarine with red armor and multiple mechanical arms spread around him. He holds an axe staff and a clawed mechadendrite reaches out; green eye lenses and weathered details on the grey base.
Tech-Bro: done. And that means all minis for #ArmyOnDisplay are finished. Now comes the part I’ve been avoiding for months: the display. This will either be glorious… or a glorious disaster. Either way - you’ll be the first to know 😁 #WarhammerCommunity #PaintingWarhammer #SpaceMarines #Techmarine
Open cardboard box filled with weathering supplies for miniature terrain, including two large Dirty Down spray cans (Mid Brown and Rust), Vallejo Diorama FX Thick Mud, AK Rust Streaks, AK White Spirit, Vallejo Chipping Medium, rust texture paints, and several small bottles of rust and grime effects.
My carefully curated selection of weathering effects and colors for the #ArmyOnDisplay display arrived today. Sadly, the bottle of skill I ordered wasn’t in the box.
Plan B: pour everything over the terrain and trust the process. That’ll look great, right?

A Warhammer 40,000 “Eye of Terror: Sons of Dorn” box set lies on a wooden floor. The cover art shows yellow Imperial Fists vehicles and a walker alongside black-armored units, with the “Warhammer 40,000” logo across the top.
Impulse: YELLOW TANKS!!! AND ROBOTS!!!
Reason: …why even try to fight it? I already know how this ends: For Dorn! For the Emperor! ✊

It sucks, brother… but $2,000 worth of Terminators are en route to bring your immune system back into compliance. Hold the line. ✊
Get it, brother. What’s that in Terminators? 😄
I don’t see the problem. Even if we assume a multiverse, is there any branch where you can have too many Terminators? 😁
Halfway point for #ArmyOnDisplay and I can feel a proper hobby burnout creeping in. I had to force myself through the Prime, and the Techmarine isn’t exactly fun either. Problem: every delay steals time from the display. Plan was 3 months minis, 3 months display. What do I do, #WarhammerCommunity?
Cheers! But you know the hobbyist’s curse… I know where all the mistakes are buried, even if they don’t show up in photos 😄
Painted Tyranid Prime on a grey base, shown from the front-left. Bone-white body with brown shading and mottled spots, red carapace with orange highlights, large red head crest, dark talons, and a purple tongue, with both leathery wings spread.
Rear-left view of the Winged Prime with both wings extended wide across the frame. The wing membranes are painted brown with bone-colored veins; the red carapace and long tail curve behind on a plain grey base.
Rear view of the Winged Prime standing on a grey base, showing the red carapace plates down the spine and the two outstretched wings. Bone-white legs and claws frame the tail as it curls between them.
Rear-right view of the Winged Prime with wings spread, highlighting the brown wing membranes and bone struts. The red head crest and purple tongue are visible in profile above the grey base.
Here’s the Prime. This one was a struggle and didn’t quite match what I had in my head… but done is done. Next up: the Techmarine, then it’s finally display time. Kinda terrified I’ll mess it up, so… time to just commit. #WarhammerCommunity #PaintingWarhammer #ArmyOnDisplay #Tyranids
Thats a lot of bugs… holy emperor!
Not sure if liking this post would be the message I intend to send… sounds like a rough day brother.
For Dorn! Hold the line! ✊
Front view of a painted Imperial Fists Sergeant on a plain grey base, running forward with a hazard-striped chainsword raised. He has weathered yellow armor with red trim, a bare shouting head, and a blue-glowing plasma pistol in his left hand.
Left-side view of the same Sergeant mid-stride, chainsword lifted overhead and plasma pistol lowered. Weathered yellow Imperial Fists armor with red shoulder trim and a clenched-fist shoulder badge; a red helmet hangs from his belt.
Rear view of the Sergeant running away from the camera, showing backpack vents, brown belt pouches, and the red helmet on his belt. The plasma pistol has a blue glow effect, and the chainsword is raised behind him.
Front three-quarter view of the Sergeant charging forward, chainsword raised and plasma pistol at his side. Weathered yellow armor with red aquila and shoulder markings, on an unpainted grey base.
Here’s the Brother Sergeant… and that’s Assault Intercessors 5/5. Pretty pleased with how he turned out. Next: paint a Winged Prime, a Techmarine, and build the display. Only three months left. No pressure 😅

Close-up of a painted Space Marine head on a stick, held over a blue glove. The face is shouting with an open mouth, red helmet comms pieces on the sides, and small painted eyes; the background is blurred.
I’ve learned my lesson… you get exactly ONE shot at painting pupils. After that? Just stop. Walk away. It can only get worse 😅

Thanks a lot, really appreciate it! Still plenty to improve, but I'm learning with every model.
Close-up of an Imperial Fists Space Marine’s plasma pistol, showing blue-white “glow” painted on the vented coils. The weathered yellow armor and grey base are partly visible against a blue gridded cutting mat background.
Just a quick heads-up: tutorials that have “plasma effect” and “easy” in the title are lies. Absolute lies. Personally uploaded by Abaddon himself!!!

Rhinox it shall be 😁
Close-up of two painted Imperial Fists Space Marines in weathered yellow armor, held in blue gloved fingers. The shot focuses on their belt pouches and holsters, one painted dark brown and the other a warmer reddish brown
Apparently I was moonwalking when I started painting this holster 🤪
#WarhammerCommunity, what’s the play here: repaint with Doombull to match squad, or stick with Rhinox for Sergeant privilege?

Thank you bother.
Thanks mate 😃
Two painted Imperial Fists Assault Intercessors on plain grey bases, shown from the front. Both wear weathered yellow armor with red trim and carry bolt pistols; one holds a hazard-striped chainsword across his chest while the other runs forward with his chainsword extended.
Two Imperial Fists Assault Intercessors in motion, shown from the left side. The front model carries a hazard-striped chainsword and bolt pistol with a clenched-fist shoulder badge; the second model behind him points a bolt pistol while holding his chainsword out to the side.
Rear view of two Imperial Fists Assault Intercessors on grey bases, showing their backpacks and brown belt pouches. Both have weathered yellow armor; one has a hazard-striped chainsword and the other carries a bolt pistol with a red purity seal tag.
Two Imperial Fists Assault Intercessors on grey bases, posed back-to-back in a dynamic stance. Weathered yellow armor with red chest eagles and shoulder trim; one aims a bolt pistol while the other holds a hazard-striped chainsword and pistol.
Assault Intercessors 3 + 4/5. Tried to weather the decals as well this time so they don’t look freshly slapped onto grimy armor. I think it turned out pretty nice. Next up: the Sarge… which means I now have to figure out plasma effects. What could possibly go wrong? 😁 #WarhammerCommunity
Slaanesh made me do it!!!
