I'll be @traversetheatre.bsky.social this evening to see their production of Jess Brodie's Gush, directed by Becky Hope-Palmer and starring Jessica Hardwick. Looking forward to it as I've already enjoyed a 'work in progress' last year, and a recent rehearsal. Looks like being a great piece of drama!

‘When the knife came up through the pool table, audiences gasped’: how Iraq war epic Black Watch conquered the world
No! My brilliant compatriot and international colleague of 26 years has been made redundant with 3wks notice. I join @timcrouch.bsky.social in protesting this decision.

Not actually what the report said, but how the paper reported it, which is, y’know, deep sigh…
I'll be @traversetheatre.bsky.social this afternoon for this week's @playpiepint.bsky.social performance, Miss Lockwood Isn't Well, written by James Reilly and directed by Catriona MacLeod. Looking forward to "an ecclesiastical comedy drama about a Catholic primary school teacher..."
Might be the greatest opening paragraph of anything ever.
(Spoiler - The numbers we use for arithmetic in the Western world ARE Arabic numerals. Are Republicans going to advocate a return to counting on their fingers?)
Don't want to be pedantic, but do you really mean 7.30 pm GMT???? By April 15th, we'll be on British Summer Time, i.e. the clocks will have moved forward one hour so 7.30 pm will actually be 8.30 pm.
Rough seas at Dunbar Harbour this morning.
Found one more of Mark Hume's Chainsaw Artworks in the housing estate near where I live
Lovely pieces of 'chainsaw art' by Mark Hume have been appearing in a housing estate close to where I live on the outskirts of Dunbar. I've found two so far, but I'm sure there are others waiting to be discovered.
I went for a walk around Doon Hill, to the South of Dunbar today and was surprised by how much the grass has grown in the past week. Suddenly, things are starting to look very green!
I enjoyed One Day - The Musical, very much @lyceumedinburgh.bsky.social this afternoon. Until I saw the dress rehearsal a couple of weeks ago, I knew nothing about the plot, having missed the book, the film and the TV adaptation, but it was a very coherent production in a totally transformed Lyceum
I enjoyed The Swansong @traversetheatre.bsky.social very much today - in spite of falling asleep at least twice (no idea why). Apologies to anybody who noticed! This cleverly written musical beautifully combines great sadness with hope for a better future.
Two theatre visits today: first to @traversetheatre.bsky.social for this week's @playpiepint.bsky.social presentation, The Swansong, by Eve Nicol & Finn Anderson; then to @lyceumedinburgh.bsky.social for One Day, based on the novel by David Nicholls.
Thanks for letting me know - I didn't mean to do that!
I very much enjoyed Stephen Christopher and Graeme Smith’s 'The Legend of Davie McKenzie', this week's @playpiepint.bsky.social presentation @traversetheatre.bsky.social. The excellent cast took the audience on an emotional roller-coaster from comedy to tragedy in the space of less then an hour.
I'll be @traversetheatre.bsky.social at lunchtime today for this week's @playpiepint.bsky.social presentation, The Legend of Davie McKenzie, written by Stephen Christopher & Graeme Smith, and directed by Jake Sleet. About an incarcerated man who tries to honour his late pal.
We are in Los Angeles to develop a brand new production! Ahead of rehearsals starting our Artistic Director stopped by the @hammer.ucla.edu for some inspiration. Follow along to see what we get up to while in the sunny state of California!
This afternoon I'll be @traversetheatre.bsky.social to see David Greig's The Events, which I first saw during the 2013 Fringe, though I can't remember much about it. I'm looking forward to this new production by @wonderfools.org in association with @cnauldtheatre.bsky.social.
I enjoyed the One Day dress rehearsal @lyceumedinburgh.bsky.social very much this afternoon. Great performances from Jamie Muscato & Sharon Rose, and I was particularly impressed by the energy of the official photographer who rushed around the stage to capture images with minimal disruption
I'll be @lyceumedinburgh.bsky.social this afternoon to see a dress rehearsal for One Day: The Musical, adapted from the novel by David Nicholls and directed by Max Webster. It will be interesting to see the impact of the new seating arrangements specifically for this show.
Thanks, Clare!
Celebrating my 69th Birthday with a slice of home-made coffee and spice cake with chocolate icing.
I really enjoyed Stef Smith's Head. Heart. Hand. @traversetheatre.bsky.social tonight. Beautifully written, staged and performed, it reminded me of how many students, staff and alumni of what is now QMU I have known over the various stages of my life.
