These are methods I've studied more in a psychological astrology context but I think may be useful in this situation. Although Saturn is a malefic and brings the experience of adversity, I also approach it as a principle of maturation and work with it that way. In that view, you can learn a lot...
Another idea is to work with composite charts and synastry to see how Saturn is affecting the family dynamics. What are the Saturnian pattern(s) in the family? Is it currently setting off any major cross-aspects between you/them? This may give you deeper insight into how Saturn is affecting things.
There are a few ways I'd potentially work with this.
The first is to look at your own Saturn and 4th house, 3rd house and their rulers, aspects, etc, to understand how all this is affecting you.
You can then look at their charts in detail to understand what they may be experiencing and empathise.

I'm curious to try this but not sure I quite understand what you mean. My lord of the orb at birth was Jupiter. Does this idea suggest I would be attracted to Jupiterian people? Or is it more as it changes, eg it says this year's one is Mars so I'd be more drawn to Martian types?

Last year it was exalted but Rx and conjunct Saturn, and the TL by profection from Sect light, and needless to say the essential dignity was very much counter-acted
I was literally just thinking about this - I've got a domiciled Venus right on the MC of my SR this year. It is same as the natal sign placement, so I'm hoping for some positivity but it's not a profected TL or conjunct natal venus by degree. We'll see -

It's my birthday, so I thought I'd share my Solar Return (yesterday). I have probably been a bit quiet this past year - I sure will not miss last year's Rx Mercury in Pisces conjunct Saturn and Rx Venus!! I also wanted to share the cover of some stunning alchemical cards my wife gave me. 🥰
Female mentors have been so important to me. I started finding them in my mid-late 30s when I became aware I needed that. I have had several for different fields, and I so value their perspective and experience. I hope you start finding yours soon - Saturn Return sounds like an ideal time.

Today happens to be both their Lunar and Jupiter returns - AND their Progressed Moon is also almost exactly conjunct the Natal and transiting Moon. All ~26-27° Virgo.
