Every day I read a news story that makes me feel like I need to apologize to at least one insane person in a John 3:16 van and today it’s this one

The most striking bits of the Shadow Docket docs:
Lots of hand wringing over costs to power plants, not even a mention of the benefits of cutting CO₂ pollution.
Yes, the 5:4 SCOTUS majority doing the fossil industry's bidding, and not even trying to hide it

"We are pleased to share more than 125,000 U.S. Supreme Court records and briefs. These materials which span nearly two centuries of American law are now freely accessible online."
"Includes records and briefs spanning cases from 1830 through 2019."
I was in Maine over the weekend and drove through a lot of different kinds of areas. I did not see a single Susan Collins or Trump sign (except one "Impeach Trump" sign). I saw many Platner signs (and one or two Mills signs).
I once tweeted out a nomination for Tim Heidecker to be the "liberal Joe Rogan" but this is even better.
Tim Heidecker becoming "Creative Director of Infowars is the funniest thing to happen in decades. www.nytimes.com/2026/04/20/b...
The Yale report on trust in higher education has some good recommendations for reforms in many areas that I hope Yale and other schools implement.
But its diagnosis is oddly silent about what I suspect is the most important force driving the decline in trust in higher education: political attack.
This village uses its solar income on free communal lunches, buses and other communal efforts.“If you divide money as individual income, people feel disconnected. People who didn’t know each other for years now get to know each other within days”
I love everything about this.
🚨NEW DISINFO PAPER🚨 TLDR; disinformation circulates as narratives, not false facts. This paper took five years (!!!) and a rotating cast of collaborators and GRAs. Our case studies include the pee tape, and we have an entire appendix justifying that. www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10....
Nationally, polls show that the majority of voters want their elected officials to address the climate and cost of living crises together—and they believe it is possible
Centrists tell us we have to choose between economic populism and climate ambition. They're wrong. With *green economic populism* we can tackle climate and the cost-of-living crises together.
Today @cplusc.bsky.social is launching a new research and policy agenda to move us forward. 🧵
🚨🚨 Today, we’re launching “Stop Greed Build Green,” a strategic framework and agenda to confront the affordability crisis and the climate crisis together by putting working people in charge of the economy and the climate transition. (1/10)

Does anyone have a simple analysis (ideally with easy to read graphics / data visualizations) on the Inflation Reduction Act rollbacks in the "One Big Beautiful Bill"?

"Democracy is a system in which parties lose elections"
Again, I'll note how incredibly extreme the GOP is, not only in absolute terms, but relative to other far right parties in rich democracies, which quickly concede elections <all the time> w/o a fraction of the post-election nonsense we endure.
the only downside is Rod Dreher is coming back home.

Brilliant midterm strategy to restart frozen student loan payments at a higher rate starting in June.
If you're wondering how Florida's fish and conservation police are able to give Flock data to ICE, you can thank Gov. Ron DeSantis. @jasonkoebler.bsky.social has more.

It’s crazy that the vice president openly intervening in a foreign election for the candidate backed by Russia ranks a distant second in insane things happening today.
