Thank you Ben. You’re the sort of Christian they all should aspire to be.

"absolutely no votes to confirm judges, cabinet members, or to advance or fund any policies for presidents that openly say they will end entire civilizations" is actually an extremely fucking moderate position

This whiplash where the president terrifies the world for a few days with unhinged threats and then says “never mind” and then there’s this implication that anyone scared of his unhinged threats was overreacting is very domestic abuse but make it a country.

The AI Great Leap Forward In 1958, Mao ordered every village to produce steel. The steel was useless. The crops rotted. Today's top-down AI mandates are producing the same pattern: ba...

Speaking of AI, this seems like a particularly insightful and timely analysis of the current state of the hype cycle.

Can AI replace the graphical interface? I've seen some speculation lately that AI might replace GUIs in some contexts. Let's think about this and consider what it might mean in different situations.

Here are some of my thoughts about AI versus GUIs. And pizza.

It might feel hard these days to stay optimistic but please remember that global clean-energy investment is twice as high as new fossil fuel investments. Conservative leaning regions slowly clue on to the joys of locally produced energy giving you independence from the big cats in the capital.

see?
here's the thing. A lot of people are like, the earth is fucked, it's beyond salvation, it's hit the tipping point, but time and time again we see that if we just fucking fixed the problem, it rebounds so incredibly fast. Imagine what could be done if people actually cared

This is a Nation wide opportunity for non-lawyers to help get people out of ICE detention.

You go to a courthouse, look stuff up, & pass it on to these folks to coordinate with attorneys to *get people out*

This morning, I went to see what were supposed to be the completely unredacted Epstein files. However, some of the files were still redacted by Kash Patel’s FBI.

Here’s my reaction.

Riffing off Brendan's method of juxtaposition in this awesome report, I'd like to offer another comparison:

Food assistance cuts versus new funding for DHS in the "Big Beautiful Bill"

Republicans cut food assistance by $187 billion while providing $191 billion in funding for DHS

Especially the Reverse Victim and Offender part, except with essentially infinite resources to throw at the task.

It's DARVO, scaled up with billionaire wealth, made industrialized. Which is why it is so heavily aligned with the fascism, which *also* uses that tactic at scale.

An airline security card but instead of oxygen masks, it's squid. Just roll with it.

Secure your own squid first before helping others.

@pennyred.bsky.social Just re-found your unapologetic tweet about neurospicy folks form 2022-07-19. I think of it often. So glad to see you're still writing and generally being out and proud about autism. :) There really are quite a lot of us. More than we knew how to recognize even a few years go.

A screenshot of a LinkedIn post by me (Hilary Mason) which says:

I’m angry, and it's hard to put this into words.

Sexual demeaning and child sexual abuse material (CSAM) are not inevitable consequences of technology. It's a deliberate product strategy by X and Elon Musk.

The environment that allows this to flourish has been around for some time. AI amplifies these existing flaws in the system and exacerbates the harms. This is a well-known, and pretty obvious if you think about it for a bit.

We've had a disregard for safety on social media, general lack of attention and legal enforcement for sexual crimes against women and children, the absence of business ethics, a lack of product sense, a subjugation of empathy to misogynistic status incentives for tech folks.

And now a leader who is taking advantage of that with no regards for the harms caused.

If you post on X, please stop.

If you have power or a position where you can keep these harms from being normalized, please do it.

I put this on LinkedIn because that's where I think folks need to hear it, but TLDR: if you're on X, GTFO.

Sexually abusive content is not inevitable, it is a _choice_. If you stay on the platform, you are endorsing that choice.

For those keeping score, Bellingcat, The New York Times Visual Investigation Team, & Washington Post's Visual Forensic team have all published analysis showing the ICE shooter wasn't in the path of Renee Nicole Good’s vehicle when he shot her, contradicting statements by the President & his cronies

I have watched the video. I think you probably do not need to watch the video. it shows what you think it's gonna show in terms of lack of justification.
