Infrastructure isn't supposed to turn a profit.
The sewers aren't supposed to be profitable.
The parks aren't supposed to be profitable.
The postal service isn't supposed to be profitable.
The "profit" is in how it enables everyone in society to do more.

Ernest mainly faces bullies, bad bosses and businessmen
Immunity to bullets (!)
Bonding with animals, bigtime
In most films he gains a superpower.
A true master of disguise, but in the Bugs Bunny vein.
In the best films, Jim Varney isn't the only person giving 100%.
#ernest
Dr Otto and the Riddle of the Gloom Beam remains unplacable. Astonishing and creative, but only when Jim Varney is in the scene.
Ernest Goes to Africa: slightly racist, but weirdly against Arabia and India, and felt like a v strange version of Africa all round.
Have now seen *all* the Ernest movies!
Jim Varney is magnificent, and all the movies had merit. Most of them were a great pleasure and only a couple were just a so-so pleasure.
Ernest Goes to Jail and Ernest Rides Again are absolutely top tier ernest.
(Camp and maybe Christmas, too, natch)
Ah! That’s the brilliant @benjamilian.bsky.social and the album is here swithen.bandcamp.com/album/the-da...
10/10 this game has my pronouns #transthefthorso
It has also warned me that a horse might say "fuck" when I least expect it.
Hooray, and also hello! Happy horse to you, and much gender gladness.
I have finally gotten round to playing Trans Theft Horso by the vaguely effable @benjamilian.bsky.social, and the main menu theme already tells me that I am in good company 👍🏾
Well, more specifically it told me to sing along, but honestly that's a close equivalent.
I loved the moment of Katarina fascinated by the star map. I've decided her character and performance make more sense if we assume she's five years old, and/or stoned.
Honoured to have one of my songs featured at the end of this week's Missing Episodes podcast. It's a pleasure to be pudding.
I'll be making a freshly rerecorded version of my 2008 Daleks' Master Plan album (of which this is track 5, The Ballad of Mavic Chen) back online on Easter Monday.
Sometimes being a trans ally means keeping an expression of enjoyment on your face while the most gorgeous woman you've ever seen does an eerily accurate Wario voice for far too long
@marnanel.org I suspect some of yours should be on here.
In the spirit of trans visibility, lemme just plug my ongoing project to document as many pre-2010 games as possible that had a trans person on the dev team. You might be surprised by what's on there. There's games going right back to the sixties!

A pinch and a punch on the first of the month!
Poisson d'Avril!
Trans Theft Horso!

BadaBoom! $7.77 from your loyal listener, with the following message “:3”
Slam Dunk Ernest, in which the archangel of basketball gives Ernest magic shoes, was radically better than I expected. So far only Ernest Goes to School has been a dud.
Also, Ernest is a great guy and an inspiration. If I was transmasc I'd be tempted to take on the name.
Wrong director, but I do also want to see Dernest Himmel Übernest Bernestlin before I go to Gernestmany in May.
A great directornest.
Have I seen any non-Ernest films this month? Well I've started watching Berlin Alexanderplatz but I'm not sure if it counts.
The worst film of the month was Ernest Goes to School. The film which is impossible to categorise in terms of quality is Dr Otto and the Riddle of the Gloom Beam.
Ernest Saves Christmas has now overtaken Ernest Goes to Jail as the best film I've seen all month, and as the greatest Ernest film I've seen in my life.
Oh, interesting! I think I'll throw my game into the ring for one of these. It's too long since I've been to Birmingham.
I am not good at all at promotion, but I know I should declare this loudly!
Trans Theft Horso, nominated for some lively awards at @amazefest.bsky.social festival, is currently in a sale over at Steam: store.steampowered.com/app/2268550/...
People who enjoyed my Ben-Them Lent reflections might find the article to be a spiritual follow-up: swithen.bandcamp.com/album/ben-th...
I wrote a piece on guilt, the impossibility of remaining ethics, and whether it's ok to play The Sims.
Here's The Ballad of Mavic Chen, to celebrate this glorious return: youtu.be/gKR-o1Hr8CE?...
More Mavic Chen! More alien delegates! More Bret Vyon and more Katarina!!
I have hoped for precisely this. Put together with my Berlin news, this *really* seems to be my week!
Good news, everybody! Two episodes of The Daleks' Master Plan have been discovered!
It's my favourite DW story (despite 7/12 of it still being missing) and this is *big news* for fans of classic Who.
Fun fact: I once made a Daleks' Master Plan concept album. I must revisit this!
