Traditional con posting, this time it's some geese at Pendigo Lake in Birmingham where I have spent the last few days enjoying my first Eastercon. It surely won't be my last.

Anybody who is like “Piracy is activism!”—trust me, supporting your local library is about 1000% more effective activism, and it’s still free for you and authors still get paid!

the WHOLE THING about writing is realizing that you don't "already" have "the whole thing" in your head. when it's just an idea that warm feeling smooths over all the gaps. but you've got a germ. a seed. there are *so many choices* left to make--real, hard, meaningful, creative choices.

A photo of the sea meeting the horizon but it's not as glamorous as you might think. There is a line of wind turbines in the far distance and lights and a guardrail between us and the water.

"When nature is personal, the world is peopled by rocks, trees, rivers, and mountains...protagonists of their own stories rather than just props in a human story. When Earth is truly alive, the world is full of persons, only some of whom are human.”
