Scene from Barton Fink
I have heard the book is incredible. Roger and James Deakins Zoomed in to speak at an event a few weeks ago at @comatbu.bsky.social. We screened Barton Fink beforehand. What a treat!
What an incredible life.
I used to know someone who worked in the real money gaming space. He told me that there wasn't a week that didn't go by that a player contacted them begging for their money back, often times spending money that would normally go for rent or food. He said after a while, he couldn't handle it anymore.
Well said. An important distinction.

Absolutely WILD that the development of sofrware proceeded with so little heed to record-keeping that 52 year old source code is a major archaeological trove that requires special tools to gain access to, like it's a treasure room in a sealed royal tomb from 3500 years ago.

It's a meme! Three people are standing in a row. They are from the set of the oppenheimer movie. On the left is the Einstein character, looking like a boffin. He is captioned "Curatorial team". On the right is the oppenheimer character, looking very serious. He is captioned "Admin team". in the middle is a member of the production team, wearing outrageous and garish clothes. He is captioned "Learning team".

My ancestors (surnames Clegg and Newsome and several others going way back) were all from Dewsbury and many were involved in the wool industry. Thank you for sharing!
If there is one image that sums up the area around Dewsbury, Batley and Ossett's industrial heritage it must be this. The shoddy and mungo industries were early forms of textile recycling, prevalent in the area during the 19th and part of the 20th centuries. Shoddy and mungo were fibres made
