Reform will do a Trump: they will only give access to ‘friendly’ journalists. Mason and co are carefully polishing their friendly credentials so they can carry on doing their job. In a new, obedient BBC, the likes of Mason will do very well, while Vic Derbyshire and co will probably just retire…

I think you miss the point about most media coverage, including the BBC. A major threat to the PM is Drama. Drama drives content, content drives engagement, engagement means money and in the case of salaried hacks it gets them the big story. The hacks depend on drama for their very survival
