These priorities land right alongside #FutureofAid 2040’s call to redesign the aid system playbook: transform financing, put local leadership at the centre, and build resilience that can withstand system shocks.
This year’s high-level UN commemorations aren’t just about retrospection, but about strengthening the #PactForTheFuture to have “peace, development and human rights.”

The launch confirmed that the Future of Aid 2040 is not about prediction, but about co-creation. Together, we are building pathways toward decentralized, community-driven, and resilient humanitarian systems.
🔹 From response to resilience. Aid must move beyond late crisis response to anticipatory action, preparedness, and resilience-building. Scenario thinking, adaptive tools, and innovative funding models — including diaspora and homegrown resources — will be critical in this transition.
🔹 Communities must be at the center. Speakers highlighted the shift from needs to demands, where affected people define their own priorities and exercise agency. True transformation requires recognizing diversity within communities and ensuring inclusive representation.
🔹 India’s leadership role is pivotal. No longer only seen as a recipient, India is increasingly a giver of aid, shaping inclusive, regionally grounded humanitarian models. With its geopolitical weight and diverse civil society, India is central to any global conversation on transforming aid.

Last week’s Future of Aid 2040 India Launch hosted by @SEEDS and the START India Humanitarian Hub brought together government representatives, INGOs, nonprofits, research networks, and community voices to reflect on how humanitarian systems must transform for the decades ahead.
