I am having to do my own job but seemingly the job of at least 3 other people on probably 2 bands higher salary than me.

So I am currently trying to get on a MANDATED course that my employer wants me to do as part of my personal development review but the people whose job it is to oversee CPD / training and those who have purse strings have no idea about it, how it is paid for or that people have been on before.

They said in order to pay something by credit card I need to raise “a REQ” and to do so I have to speak to procurement

As the supplier is new (😡) I need the supplier to generate a link that can be sent to the finance department & I then have to go in person and login there to approve the payment.

They decided that I need to speak with yet another person the Head of Education & Workforce Development and maybe that course fees could be paid by credit card?

(In case you had forgotten people have been attending this course at the same place every year for at least the last 5 years)

Early December I email the education/development mandarins again whose job it is to actually arrange these courses. One says that as the other is off sick and because they are seemingly incapable of making a decision they need to wait until they return which they did... In mid January.

Sent the form to the provider

Provider “We have already had people from your trust attend we’ll just invoice them as before”

My trust “No they are new we need the form completed so a PO can be raised”

Me: “How was it arranged last year”

My trust : *crickets*

Then the fun began

My trust “It’s a new supplier they need to fill this form in”

Me : “people have attended every year for the last 5 years”

Spoke to Lead for Workforce Development & Education AND Lead for Post Registration Nursing Education both clueless that the course even existed.

Rant incoming:

I applied to do a course in November that colleagues have been going to every year for at least the last 5 years.

The course starts next Tuesday.

Have I got the funding / go ahead from work? No I have not.

I filled in all the forms and got it approved by 3 levels of bosses.

I have the same issue. I like to f with the algorithm
