In Spanish it's called "Vegetable (soy/oat) beverage", which sounds disgusting but is quite effective.

Hope they don't force producers to call it "disgusting non-animal liquid"

SHARE, Perhaps some modules of the ISSP, the European Values Study (?)

QUESTION: Is there a magical European dataset including
1. Gender
2. Sexuality
3. Religion
4. Ethnicity / country of birth (+ for parents)
5. Occupation

ESS is missing 2, EU-LFS is missing 3, EU LGBTIQ Survey is missing 5.

Sharing is caring!

⚠️ Despite all the hype, chatbots still make terrible doctors. Out today is the largest user study of language models for medical self-diagnosis. We found that chatbots provide inaccurate and inconsistent answers, and that people are better off using online searches or their own judgment.

We pays for this, obviously. We pay for the complex, bloated infrastructure necessary to deny access to the research we produce. And it sucks. It doesn't work to keep people out (thanks, Sci-hub!), and it doesn't work to let people in.

🧵 New version of our paper (@bcegerod.bsky.social) is finally online: "How Many is Enough? Sample Size in Staggered Difference-in-Differences Designs"
We show that even well-identified DiD studies are often underpowered; sample sizes needed are surprisingly large

It would be great to develop a targetted nation-wide survey since the scarce admin registers we have in Spain are obviously bad option.

Spain plans to give 500,000 undocumented migrants legal status The process will be available to foreign nationals without a criminal record who can prove they lived in Spain for five months prior to 31 December 2025.

Great instrument to identify the impact of regularisation.

A few months ago I stated in a grant application that I would consider US conferences depending on safety. A couple of months later, I thought I was exaggerating, but after Greenland and more, it made absolute sense.

This is an important paper on social class barriers among faculty in academia.

First-generation college grads earn less and are placed at lower prestige institutions despite being just as productive as other faculty.

Faculty from upper class backgrounds are overplaced for their research records.

A cow has been filmed using tools for the first time ever, stunning scientists | BBC Science Focus Magazine A very clever cow has learned to use sticks to scratch herself, the first time sophisticated tool use has been seen in livestock

Whether animals are intelligent or not should not be a criterion for deciding whether they should be slaughtered for human enjoyment. Still, it seems that some animals are more intelligent than we assume.

With fake generations shortened (because they keep rushing out the next for marketing purposes), and age of parents increasing, it's more common for families to skip a fake generation than double up (as when a million boomer parents had boomer kids). The important point is: these are not generations

I was wondering if I should download mine and this is what I wanted to read ✌️ Still, I wouldn't be surprised if they asked about my certificate when applying for a position in certain countries where bureaucracy is just a way of life
