Oh hi Rick.
Is "That could've been an emoji response" the new "That could've been an email"?
A different kind of houseboat, I guess?
The latest trend in home decor is... nightmare fuel!
Also, if you're feeling down, please remember that today - of all days - we mustn't dwell. No, not today. We can't. Not on REX MANNING DAY.
I would wear this proudly now - probably over my hip like a belt, but at a jaunty angle, like a charming, nerdy rogue. It would be filled with Bib Fortuna and Dengar figures. It would be glorious.
Two amazing people right there. Congrats on the big win!
One piece of nice news amid today's hellstorm of crazy. I loved Art on Lark back in the day, and I look forward to finding out if it can recapture that wonderful street fair magic.
April showers bring... April snow?
Shmebulock the rainbow-barfing gnome is not amused.
This month's Book Swap newsletter will offer up recommendations of poets and poetry collections for National Poetry Month. Here's how you can submit your own recs to be featured in the @timesunion.com newsletter:
So many people excited about Artemis II and here I am, worried that they'll encounter extraterrestrial life during their journey around the moon and now we'll have to deal with America's crazy racist grandpa being involved in first contact. PLEASE STAY HIDDEN, ALIENS.

The best of us just rode this immensely powerful rocket into orbit to begin their journey to the moon. The worst of us will address the nation tonight and lie to us to deflect from his incompetence and criminality.
Seems legit.
Thrilled about the new ownership of the theater, and extra-thrilled about all the renovation plans. The Spectrum 8 is a local gem and this offers hope that it will continue to be a local landmark for years to come.
Last month's Book Swap newsletter featured @timesunion.com staff, guest contributors & readers recommending some of their favorite books by women authors. You can read about my recommendation (@jessfink.bsky.social's "We Can Fix It") and others below & also in Sunday's print edition.

I spent years writing about the comics biz & becoming close w/ comics pros, and also worked in a library. This is among the truest things I have ever read. I am amazed by anyone who achieves longevity in either career path. (And the same for journalism, to a somewhat lesser degree.)
Comic art fans, check it out - some great stuff here:
"Blue Again" by Weakened Friends:
youtu.be/blxyr3tUBfQ?...
Their song "Blue Again" gives '90s alt-grunge vibes in all the right ways - a little Pixies w/ some L7 in the mix, perhaps? And I really dig their cover of "Torn." They're playing in Albany this weekend. Read all about it here:
TDoV, Trek-style. Brilliant.
