This is 100% down to out-of-universe publication dates.
TotJ was early-mid 1990s and set 4000 years prior to the OT (which gave no particular details about the Jedi Order) so writers had and ran with a lot of imaginative latitude.
KotOR released in 2003, a few months after Attack of the Clones.
Favorite example: In KotOR, Jolee Bindo quit the Jedi to train his wife Nayama because the Jedi wouldn't- she was too old and too married. He also tells you about his Jedi colleague Nomi Sunrider.
Nomi Sunrider from Tales of the Jedi, who began Jedi training as a freshly-widowed adult with a child.
The closest she usually manages to relaxing is coffee or shisha and non-academic reading.
Now that her One Big Project is in the wind-down phase, I think she's devoting a little brainpower to a Theory of Everything that resolves some of the apparent contradictions in various kinds of magic
Strix had to bash herself into an approximation of “guy who doesn’t need loving attention” to get by for a long time; Registering a desire for it still feels weird and uncomfortable.
Any partner who tried would get an excruciating round of “Explain why that’s fun or funny. No, explain better.”
Also there are main characters who are literal muppets and so many moments that exist purely to be goofy. Star Wars has never been totally straight-faced.
LRP, re: Star Wars fandom stuff, I try to more be the guy who’s like “here’s a fun continuity snarl, that was mostly about these out-of-universe circumstances; what it illustrates is that SW is almost 50 and that stuff’s inevitable, adjust your attitude accordingly.”
Growing up, I remember people here and there grousing about the "teddy bears" in Jedi. I couldn't articulate it until well into adulthood, but I think even then I'd resolved to never be the guy who complains about the teddy bears in Star Wars, both literal and figurative.
MAKE 👏 THE 👏 THING!!! 👏
SOMEONE OUT THERE WILL ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT, I PROMISE YOU
barnes and noble collab so players learn how to read
if you did endwalker zenos solo duty as black mage, they should have given you a special animation where you hit him with your staff as a callback to that one early thaumaturge dialogue option about bludgeoning your opponent with your scepter when you're out of mana
Strix reserves cannabis for medicinal preparations; High is just a faster, angrier version of drunk for her, and that’s not fun for her or anyone within a hundred yalms.
On the upside, you will never meet a more competent or trustworthy trustworthy trip-sitter.
(High chance that your friends are *also* ASD and facing related barriers like perpetual overstim/burnout and rejection sensitivity. Doesn’t mean they don’t like you/aren’t thinking about you. But it’s also okay to call this out/ask them to take more initiative.)
For stuff that she’d actually be willing to sign off on, @brazenelk.bsky.social’s orange blossom soliflore and @hexeyrisqueorzean.bsky.social’s champaca attar with lotus are both way up there.
I think she did journeyman work on the blend for the fountains in the Platinum Mirage- she doesn’t advertise this because it’s conspicuously consumptive for its own sake and not very good. Probably-poached deer musk, ambergris, saffron, jasmine absolute that’s urinal-grade indolic, etc.
Packed dirt and splintered acacia from parade fields and training yards. Ceruleum fumes. Low-burning Galbanum resin from Rhalgrite rites. Sometimes, a hair and beard dressing she made for him
with labdanum, Hannish khus, sumbul, and an oudh that cost her three weeks’ stipend per gram.
Fatayer with either goat or merguez. Extra spicy is ideal but dumping harissa on top is fine if it’s not.
Non-lethal tempering remediation was her one big project for most of her career, so they’re exciting tech!
Strix’s porxie, Volucris, pretty much acts like a wild sow, which is to say frighteningly smart, maternal, and her suggested solution to every problem is “try killing and eating it”
This dork is absolutely using her vacation carte blanche to do archaeological survey work that the Ala Mhigan republic was prepared to pay an expert to execute. She’s hauling Raubahn along to see important sites in Skalla with a particular eye toward the magic-related history.
Perseverating.
Awake at 2am waiting for pain meds to kick in, WoL questions would be lovely
I do not want to create an account or open a subscription I just want to buy a thing and never hear from you again why is this so hard.
Her real name, Nonohi Nohi, is from “ruru nohinohi,” “Little Owl” in Māori.
bro u gotta get into this dead franchise from 25 years ago its fire🔥🔥
Bevin in Uru.
Screw it I'm going back to Uru
"Strix" because I wanted to economically convey "small, bright-eyed, and a little uncomfortably intense." Her original surname was Athene. I changed it because the Greek/Latin mismatch was bugging me and some stuff in 6.X made it extra awkward. Now it's "Striga," for double the owl-but-also-witch.
biblically accurate yoshi-p isn't real he can't hurt you #finalfantasyxiv
Black Mage Mains Literally Only Want One Thing And It's Fucking Disgusting
Spicy DT MSQ opinion: 7.X revolving around “You killed AI!Sphene but Real Sphene is alive and well and wants to be your friiiiiend” and reverting Living Memory were chickenshit writing/design choices and dilute the thesis of 7.0.
oh shoot that was in the original draft I need to repost one sec
