I want to live in a world where everybody deserves everything. I've been meaning to ask Carrianne Leung

I've been meaning to ask @cleung.bsky.social

KM: If you could send your love to anyone, who would it be and why?

CL: Everyone. Even those who might hate me, and I hate them. Even those who are fundamentally motivated by hate. I want to live in a world where everybody deserves everything.

“I am ashamed my tuition is funding genocide..The horrors..may be easy to ignore for those lacking a moral backbone. For the rest of us,these atrocities cause us to take stock in our own complacency in the imperialist system.”

I keep seeing this. Guys, their literal job is to figure out what to do. They are not helpless even if they are not the majority. I really hope we can stop treating some of the most powerful people in the world as helpless and without sentience.

Resist Authoritarianism by Refusing to Obey in Advance Do not obey in advance. Most of the power of authoritarianism is freely given. In times like these, individuals think ahead about what a more repressive government will want, and then offer themsel…

@timothysnyder.bsky.social on lessons history has taught us about resisting authoritarianism.

How Canada's Authors of Conscience Revolted Against the Giller Prize's Support for Genocide in Gaza Palestine Square

“The movement has grown too principled, too organized, and too resolved to accept anything short of full divestment from the families and corporations who enable oppression and injustice.”

Help me with a piece of dialogue, Gen Z and Alpha and translators of Gen Z/Alpha. What do people say now instead of: “they’re checking you out.” Like in a flirty way? Thx! From a X -er who has no clue.

I’m Sheridan’s writer in residence. Here’s what the college will lose when it suspends a writing program The loss of Sheridan College's creative writing and publishing program will have devastating consequences for Canadian literature.

Thank you, Cassidy McFadzean, for this thoughtfulness.

Heart shattering to learn an Israeli drone has targeted and assassinated Mahmoud Almadhoun, one of the founders and chefs behind the Gaza Soup Kitchen.

What started as four pots and essential ingredients in Bait Lahia had grown into a remarkable effort to feed 3,000 people daily.

And yet white women overwhelmingly voted for the man that would give this incel loser that type of power.

Because, as Kat Blaque said in her most recent video, White women's "proximity to white men has always given them more power than their allyship to women of all races."

Politics, Gaza and money collide at The Giller Prize | Front Burner | CBC Podcasts | CBC Listen For the last year, Canada’s premier literary award The Giller Prize has been embroiled in a controversy that has split the Canadian literary community. Last years gala was interrupted by protestors who rushed the stage carrying placards emblazoned with ‘Scotiabank Funds Genocide.’  What they were referring to was the fact The Giller’s lead sponsor, Scotiabank, was a principal shareholder of one of Israel’s largest weapons manufacturers. They also objected to a pair of Giller sponsors invested in the Israeli military and settlements in the occupied West Bank.  Since then, a number of former Giller winners, along with hundreds of bookworkers across the country have committed to a boycott. Winner of the 2005 Giller Prize David Bergen joins the show to discuss his decision not to attend this year’s Giller Prize – and a broader conversation about the duty of a writer, and whether it is possible for artists to reconcile their personal convictions with the interests of corporate sponsors.  For transcripts of Front Burner, please visit: https://www.cbc.ca/radio/frontburner/transcripts

CBC’s Front Burner interviewed author David Bergen on his decision to boycott the #GillerPrize.
I encourage all of us in the #book industry to listen.

Ford government to ban lawsuits against province if cyclists are hurt or killed on streets where bike lanes were removed Transportation Minister Prabmeet Sarkaria tells cyclists: for your own safety, stay off Bloor, Yonge and University when bike lanes are removed.

This is proof they know what they're doing will kill or injure people. This is a malevolent gov't. Treating it as rational is a pantomime of some fantasy benign and good faith politics of yesterlore that doesn't exist. www.thestar.com/politics/pro...
