When I tried it first time my balance was not that good, I struggled with this so much 😅

Yeah, it is a bare feet but most of the professional like to go bare feet as well on less steeper hills and some go without elbow guards as well at 70-100km\h speed.
But I recommend to go with safety for beginners to build more confidence

Ohh yeah, they do teach it on land and then they introduce body drag and gliding forward. You should try it but in Canada it is expensive I will try this sport in Taiwan as they have affordable courses.
