@1healthau.bsky.social presenting the results of the HAPPEN study showing significant reduction in pneumonia through oral hygiene at #ESCMIDGlobal2026. Study already picked up by New Scientist www.newscientist.com/article/2523...
Here’s a thread on the talk I gave at #ESCMIDGlobal 2026:
“Toilets: Flushing and Spread of Pathogens” — nicknamed “You can’t outrun the plume.” Using published studies, I covered the key components shown below. There’s a surprising amount of data, but still a lack of high-quality intervention trials
I do have a press pass (for the podcast) however the email I was sent says “Access to the main Exhibition Hall is therefore restricted to healthcare professionals (HCPs), able to prescribe such medicinal products, only.” So there is inconsistency
Hmmm. Non-prescribers not allowed into the exhibition hall at #ESCMIDGlobal2026 as there are drug companies in there. So that rules out many IPC nurses (like me), academics, researchers, clinical scientists, molecular scientists. Not even pass through the area to the posters where I’m presenting..
We love posters at conferences, it's where new ideas and practical ideas come from @1healthau.bsky.social was at ICPIC in Geneva and @emrsa15.bsky.social at the IPS conference in Brighton, UK. Listen to what we found infectioncontrolmatters.com/latest/ #IDSky Ground-up assessment of IPC? - Genius!
