I dunno. Maybe I would like it now and I was just, well, too close to the last days when I saw it.
No no no. I really hated that film 🙁 Women on the Verge however…
Let's be clear: the destruction of universities is a political choice. It doesn't have to be like this. Sure, there are issues, some serious, but Ireland's universities aren't totally screwed, nor The Netherlands'. The UK government has made a choice - it is demolishing and incinerating education.

'Gender pay gap' agenda a pointless contrivance that ignores the reality of women like me
Steen has managed in this article to mis analyse the gender pay gap- it’s not only the care issue, it’s a systemic gendered hierarchy which has existed forever.Even women without children are paid less than their male colleagues! Do better Ms Steen it’s just not about you,it’s the patriarchal system

Also in research lead role I argue that in the arts and humanities a book is at least the equivalent of a grant, often double weighted in REF, bringing in QR funding.
I understand why you feel demoralised but you are so successful—SL with great publications. That matters.
And yes the system is rigged. Patronage is still a huge factor in success in the humanities
How demoralising. This is why many academics, literary scholars in particular, stop applying for funding. Have you tried different kinds of funding to fellowships eg AHRC catalyst (a network on medieval makers!)?
As the weather gets colder, warm the cockles of your creative-critical heart by reading our new Meet a Medievalist Maker blog post by @jamespaz.bsky.social, which is filled with fiery reflections on his 'ecocreative' process🔥
