On one hand, I'm so thankful to have visited Yosemite last summer during a calm, protected period. But that makes the incompetence happening right now under Trump even harder to take. We as voters intentionally chose this self-destructive behavior.
Pretty psyched that I managed to get the wilderness permit we wanted for backpacking. I'll be dreaming of rushing waterfalls & marmots for 6 months now. ๐๏ธ
Other wilderness areas have moved to a lottery or rolling permit format. It may be time for BWCA to join them given the annual "I didn't get my permit" drama.

Me getting fancy beef jerky for Christmas putting it in my bear can for a backpacking trip later & attaching the new sticker I got to the lid.

It's true, I could. But jerky tastes better in the woods.
My resolutions this year include starting a comprehensive list of backpacking trips To Do. Both with my daughter & solo.
I thought I had our summer all planned, but I've been lured by other possibilities. SEKI is the frontrunner but Olympic NP & Mount Rainier are both calling pretty hard rn.
