If you weren't thinking about the Strait of Hormuz and skyrocketing gas prices before Trump started his war, it appears nobody at the Treasury Department was either.
That's according to a top Treasury official who was asked by my staff.

Centrists on college students: "Why aren't they out in the streets protesting every day??!"
Centrists on Democratic members of Congress: "They're in the minority -- what could you expect them to do??!"
imho, it always comes back to this:
“Why aren’t college students protesting” stories are almost always wrong (they are protesting), omit crucial context (they were brutally punished for protesting before), and somehow suggest that 19 yr olds have more moral responsibility than elected officials three times their age
Also colleges restructured the way they function in response to the last waves of protests. My niece’s college did all they could to ensure no large groups could gather on campus for any purpose. Meetings / gatherings for organizing shut down. Kids punished academically.
After an immigration agent shot and wounded a Venezuelan immigrant in Minneapolis, ICE described a three-minute attack on the agent with a broom and shovel. Newly obtained video undermines that account and shows that the struggle lasted about 12 seconds.
My thoughts on the ever-increasing number of news sites requiring you to create an account and log in just to read (supposedly) non-paywalled articles: 😡
Actually we should just give citizenship to every undocumented person in the United States who wants it. Walking over an imaginary line isn't some great moral atrocity. Making people live in the shadows as a permanent underclass absolutely IS.

BREAKING: President Trump has issued an unlawful executive order attempting to severely restrict mail-in voting.
The Constitution is clear: Only the states or Congress can change election laws.

This story is insane. Married an American, arrested at her greencard interview, flown out of state, nearly killed multiple times when her diabetes was ignored and then mistreated. When she finally got out? Found out her credit card had been used illegally. www.daylightsandiego.org/san-diego-wo...
The marches had no shortage of skeptics. In Oxford, Miss,, Cass Rutledge, a first-year law student at the University of Mississippi, walked through the No Kings protest and around the town square on Saturday and questioned why people thought Mr. Trump was acting like a king. "He is, you know, a duly elected president who won the popular vote and the electoral college in a landslide," Mr. Rutledge said. "And so I'm a little bit confused on how he's acting differently than any other president." He pointed to the stalemate in Congress over the SAVE America Act, the Republican-driven bill to tighten voter identification and registration rules, which Democrats have called an attempt to suppress turnout based on false claims of voting fraud. Mr. Rutledge said that Mr. Trump was "going through the process" to try to get the legislation passed.

The NYT says today’s #NoKings protests had “no shortage of skeptics,” and then quoted exactly one of those skeptics: The chairman of the Ole Miss College Republicans (as of 2025.)
But of course, the Times doesn’t ID him as such. He’s just a Concerned Youth.

It's probably a good idea to listen to the people who were saying "abolish ICE" ten years ago and pay attention to what dangers they're pointing out now and maybe get on board with that stuff too
Under DHS’ use-of-force policy, moves that cut off a person's breathing “must not be used as a means to control non-compliant subjects or persons resisting arrest.”
But videos we reviewed showed agents using these restraints to do just that.

Outrageous.
Stripping Liam Conejo Ramos and his family of asylum is beyond cruel and indefensible.
This decision must be overturned. Shame.
The database DHS wants to access contains the name, address, Social Security number, employer, and salary or wages of every employed person in the country, as well as the equivalent details for anyone listed in state unemployment systems.
This moron has no idea how much of a third rail this is. If he goes through with a public fight with Dunkin he will never live this down. In the words of my people "fuck ya motha."
It was never about protecting cisgen women and girls. This law strips transgender adult male and females of their right to pursue liberty.

NEW: Guards have taken away crayons, colored pencils & paper during recent room searches at Dilley, according to detainees and others. After one inspection, the children just “cried and cried and cried,” a mother said. The facility denies the claims.

I lived in Collingswood years ago, and during ice/snow storms, they would often rush empty trains down the tracks to keep the ice off, with sparks flying. It was a deliberate way to keep ice from forming to the point where the tracks would become impassable.
