#WhiskeySour hour. Spiced it up with homemade ginger simple syrup. Super easy: cup sugar, cup water. Heat together. Finley chop hunk of fresh ginger about size of 3 fingers. Add to pot. Stir till sugar is dissolved. As soon as it comes to a boil, take off heat & cover for about 30. Finley strain.

I got it in Liechtenstein. Was in a London dry style. Quite nice. I think they went out of biz.

I’d like to upgrade my 20 yr old #digitalscale to one that can measure to the tenth. Any recommendations? Looking for one that has a larger surface area that can fit large containers.

Have you ever watched “The Walking Dead?!” A distiller would need to fortify their distillery from zombie mobs. Plus, speaking as an economist, trade lines & supply chains are very shaky during apocalypses. I’d rather have my tins in a bag and raid abandoned Costcos

In addition to cocktails, I’m pursuing the art of baked breads. I figure that when the zombie apocalypse comes, people will fight to keep the cocktail and bread guy alive

There isn't much of a demand for Latin teachers in New York. A good live man who can open clams and mix up cocktails makes eight times as much money.--[New York Express.

Today’s science lesson with the kids was directional freezing. They don’t know it yet, but they’re barbacks in training. Thanks @alcademics.bsky.social

PUNCH! PUNCH!! PUNCH!!!
On July 21st, 2025 from 5:00-5:30 PM
at Latitude 29, New Orleans,

      Dr. David Wondrich

will offer for auction two (2) signed hard-
cover copies of the first and only edition
of his seminal 2010 book,

Punch, or the Delights
and Dangers of the
Flowing Bowl.

Now OUT OF PRINT, Punch—still the definitive
history of that foundational beverage—is
increasingly hard to find.

The proceeds (well, all except the cost of
a couple of Sazeracs) will go to NOLA’s
own Turning Tables, dedicated to helping
the city’s actual residents find good jobs
in its many fine restaurants and bars.

There are essential cocktail tools like a good shaker & mixing glass, but ice tends to be an afterthought. Get good ice molds! You’ll have more consistent results. They will dilute better. Ice is an ingredient in EVERY cocktail!
