Made these icons for a game playtest occurring this weekend :)
For those who don't know, Wyvern Era is a tabletop monster hunting tactics game I'm making!

Most characters have as much HP as two good swings from a sword. It is wise to always treat combat as the last resort in any given situation. In most places, drawing a weapon is a serious public alarmance. Blades mean business. So, when people fight, they tend to do it bare handed. But when more serious scraps take place and weapons do get drawn – for motives good or bad – most creatures will prefer to live another day than fight to the death. Common enemies should, more often than not, attempt to flee or plead for mercy once they realize they’re going to die.

Here is one of the completed image boards ("style frames") complete w BG by the great Shinji Kimura. This was the first time we ran our entire cel "pipeline" (smeared brown ink, mottled paint, soft shadows) mated with a real BG.

Horo this kicks ass

Art of space marines advancing out of a trench, with artillery fire and detonations filling the distant background. The central figure wears power armour covered in baroque carvings and bone detail, with a crude mechanical hand swinging a censer shaped like a bell. Inset top right is a picture of the figure's unhelmeted face, heavily scarred and augmented with his whole upper and lower jaw replaced by a skeletal prosthetic, and a bug-like bionic eye filling his right socket. The rest of his face is wrapped in wires and cables.
