I hate ticks! I gear up before working in the garden & wear a Permethrin treated outer shirt, a bandanna & gaiter guards on my ankles. Afterwards I shower. Bit 3 times this year when I was just going out for a short time & was unprotected and got a tick!

I went to a plant sale today. I will have so much fun planting them out. This summer will be the best! No critters will eat my crops before I harvest. It will not be too hot. My irrigation will not fail. I will not have any pests or diseases.

We had a wonderful vernal equinox celebration yesterday. We observed nature, learned about other celebrations, made spring wreaths and sowed seeds.

Friday the 13th is lucky when you have a black cat with an Angel’s Kiss - a white spot considered a mark of divine protection, shielding black cats from persecution during times when black cats were associated with witchcraft. Plus I love the white ear tuffs.

It is war. The only way I ‘won’ was 365 degrees of 1/2 inch hardware mesh - top, sides, dug into ground. Chickens in 40’x8’ enclosed run & coop. Rats, bob cats, raccoons & coyotes are outside. They test the defenses but can’t get in.

Trust no mushroom growing wild in California. Watch out for your puppies. I know several puppies that died as the owners didn’t see them eat the death cap. symptoms are delayed and then it is too late.

Oxalis can be invasive. I have a growing patch. It is pretty but is taking over and outcompeting the other wild flowers in my ‘meadow’.
