Not sure if I want to go on this fairground ride that comes out the side of the Shard.
Publisher: What sort of publicity are you comfortable doing?
Me: Sometimes I stand in front of my books and when someone walks by I say "I've heard these are excellent".
If it’s 16 April, it must be... YES, OF COURSE! The 248th anniversary of Parson Woodforde’s ‘Piggs’ being hungover

I know it's non-ideal but after months of struggle my book, A Feast of Folklore, is finally listed on Amazon.
If you like tales of cheesy saints and fortune-telling turnips this is the book for you.

I dropped it. X
Glass is hard to identify sometimes but there's something about this piece which is saying very old. Any glass specialists out there?

Photo of part of a bookshelf with A History of Horror Fear & the Uncanny facing forward. With three other DK books on Histories of Magic, Ghosts & Spirits, Ghostlore to the side along with a Compendium of the Occult and The Book of Forgotten Witches.
Now in store, A History of Horror Fear & the Uncanny, hardback with red and black page edges and full colour artwork and photography throughout.
I saw @kjsoar.bsky.social post about this yesterday, and @bengazur.bsky.social and one or two others involved. An excellent addition to our shelves.
There were two types of Roman flue tile makers: the nice straight liners, and the wild squigglers.
No worries! Hard boil the egg, and then decorate with felt top pens, or dye with food dye. Then find a gentle slope (paved works best). I like to crouch and use a gentle underarm roll close to the ground. It's a good fun game.
We play by rolling the egg down a slope. Winner is decided by whose egg goes the furthest, or whose takes the least damage. If it shatters into pieces you are out.
Happy Easter! Introduced my husband to the joys of egg rolling and discovered an impaled chicken.
Happy Easter! Do people still go egg rolling?
I once tried taking my uni friends to Arthur's Seat to do it. The slope was a little too steep...
Bread baked on Good Friday never goes mouldy according to folklore. A little of it grated into a drink was thought to cure most illnesses.
Cambridge Folk Museum has a loaf baked in 1919. Find out if it's still mould free in my book!

I saw the Thames from a new angle yesterday. A nerve-jangling angle.
Thank you!
My first hot cross bun of the season. Folklore says they never get mouldy. Who can resist eating them long enough to test that theory?
You can pre-order the paperback edition of A Feast of Folklore! It's out in June, for those who like their folklore edible. It will be great to see it in the world again.

Just got my copy of A History of Horror, Fear & the Uncanny. It looks beautiful and suitably terrifying! I love contributing to these books alongside such great writers.
Grap yourself a copy!
Shout out to Countdown to Looking Glass for teaching me the importance of the Straits of Hormuz.
Glad all the nuclear war films that have haunted me for years start with superpowers fighting over Iran.
Two matched little beads, though of slightly different size found some distance apart on the foreshore. Part of a broken necklace? #mudlarking
I've always wanted to go to Hay-on-Wye. All those secondhand books to look at! This year I'll be talking all things tyrannical at the festival. Tickets available now.
It’s World Book Day 2026! So what better way to celebrate than to help a new (queer AF) fantasy novel come into the world?
