I'm sure there will be a twist coming at some point, but so far it has been exactly what you would expect of a series where you accidentally ordered an illegal companion bot who wants you to be her master, dresses up in cute clothes, and has lots of sex. Except yuri!
For reasons that were not yet revealed at the point I had read, the bot our protagonist received is unique, and may be part of a special program. She has a full personality and free will, although she keeps trying to get the protagonist to register as her "master" via specific sex acts.
The comic I follow is more on the explicit side, and I'm a few volumes behind: "Does It Count If You Lose Your Virginity to an Android?" (It looks like there's an anime? I'm dubious about this on TV.) Overworked OL with an online shopping habit drunk-orders what seems to be an illegal companion bot.
The writing is very joyful and low-stakes, despite the absurdity of things like sudden esports playoffs or cosplay summits, and I appreciate the girls in the main group actually caring about each other as they get to know each other, rather than what you expect of a "popular group" in high school.
English title for the novel series: "There's No Freaking Way I'll Be Your Lover! Unless..." (The Japanese title is very long, shortened to WataNare). The first volume involves a bet with a classmate about whether they should be friends or lovers, but most of the series is figuring themselves out.
There are two I follow when I can (one novel, one comic), but really depends on whether you're in the mood for the specific genre.
