'Skylarks sing here almost all year round, but today they are in full territorial mode and it is the most glorious sound, the wind stretching, compressing and carrying their song.'

"Blessing of the Ponies" at @parklanestablesrda.bsky.social by Father David Cloake from St Mary's Church @friendsoftmh.bsky.social - and like that, a new Christmas tradition begins.

This is why Park Lane Stables do what they do. Meet the lovely Matilda who rides with PLS every Friday, with her favourite team member Lexy.
I'm a trustee at @parklanestablesrda.bsky.social - who are par of the Big Give #ChristmasChallenge. This week all donations made to us will be DOUBLED!

Loved our recent trip to Scotland - Sails & Seals at Findhorn Bay.
This place feels like a spiritual epicentre for nature lovers.
St Mary's Church, Selborne: A stained glass window of Saint Francis of Assisi feeding the birds - put up over a hundred years ago as a memorial to Gilbert White, the great naturalist, and a curate in the church in the 18th Century.

Apologies for the positive post on this platform; here's a beautiful young Curlew chick, part of an inspiring "headstarting" project at #ElmleyNNR in Kent, trying to increase numbers of this endangered bird. It will be released into the wild in July, wish it well.
Doing what it says on the tin - a beach of shells at Shell Ness, Isle of Sheppy.
2/2 PLS and the Riding for the Disabled Association are all about demonstrating that horses are for all and the incredible therapeutic effect they can have on humans - and that was in full evidence today!
Thank you Natalie O'Rourke MBE and the whole team for a wonderful and life affirming day! x
1/2 - I'm a proud trustee at Park Lane Stables, a local Riding For Disabled org , but don't get to see the team in action nearly as often as I would like. So it was great to be at The Royal Windsor Horse Show today watching them win the RDA Fancy Dress Competition - including Best Overall team.
A few seconds that in no way captures the beauty of hundreds of thousands of Mayflies doing their final dance of life by the Thames this evening. Life is short folks. Try and use the time we'll.
A visit to one of the Pembrokeshire sea-bird colonies in breeding season is always recommended - but in stunning sunshine, being on Skomer Island this week was pure heaven!

It's such a wonderful book.
Thank you @caughtbytheriver.bsky.social for such a lovely review of Peter's book.

More than a description of wine making, Peter Hahn’s ‘Angels in the Cellar’ (@littletollerbooks.bsky.social) is a celebration of nature and a love of the land, the seasons and the soil, writes @bursche.bsky.social www.caughtbytheriver.net/2025/04/ange...
Love the way the ponies look as if they're guarding the nest!

In the 1960s Switzerland had some of Europe's filthiest waterbodies.
Now its cities boast near-pristine rivers & lakes: "We are united by a love of water".
Lessons to learn here, about building emotional connection to water as well as infrastructure investment.

'With no fewer than three prisons, a lot of pylons and wind turbines & big clusters of caravan parks to the north, Sheppey has had something of an unlovely reputation, but that is changing.'
