Found myself totally neglecting Bluesky lately, mostly because I’m worried about posting something dumb from the @sketch.com account by accident.
Trying to change that by scheduling my dumb personal posts in @buffer.com instead. So expect more dumb posts from me, basically.

It’s been a while since I’ve written a blog post like this!
For our latest @sketch.com release — Copenhagen — I dusted off my CMS password and tried to condense many months of work, decisions and iterations into a grand tour of our new UI.

Honestly, never been happier to work for a company that isn’t absolutely massive.
Friends at #WWDC — if you bump into @rafa.design, say hi! We sent him off with a bunch of Sketch stickers and pin badges. He’ll give you one if you ask!
Truly, this is both one of the most rewarding and challenging things of working at @sketch.com. As we close in on 15 years ourselves, continuing to iterate, introduce new features and stay true to the values we hold close isn’t easy, but I’m sure I’ve learned a lot more than I would elsewhere.
Really enjoyed @ia.net’s thoughts on being an ADA finalist after 15 years.
“Creating something innovative, simple, functional, and joyful once is hard. Maintaining that standard—over 15 years and 1,745 updates—is even harder. It takes restraint. Patience. Care.”

I can’t think of a better way to run a company than Panic has. Similarly, I can’t think of a company that VC money hasn’t ruined by some definition. That Panic’s setup is so unique now is kind-of wild, really.
Two app updates in the iOS App Store with very different approaches. One blunt (“We’ve made some changes. Get the update now.”) and one intense, all caps, starting with “We’re excited to introduce major updates”
Inside every man is two wolves
It’s been a joy to have @cjdowner.com, @paulo.is and others from the product team contribute to the marketing efforts. And for a marketing team that could comfortable share two large pizzas, I like to think we’ve punched above our weight with this one.
Been busy managing @sketch.com’s socials all day, but I’m super proud of all the work that went into this release.
It’s no exaggeration to say this is our biggest update ever. I wrote three metres of release notes for this one, no kidding.
A logo that reads “Certified Potato” on the side of a crisp packet.
Did one of those personalised blood tests and got the results back:
Justin has articulated something I’ve been feeling a lot when using AI. Maybe we’ll get to a point where I don’t feel like its manager but we’re not quite there yet. I feel bad for people who blindly trust and run with whatever it spits out.
Do not leave it out of its resting spot in the fridge, forget about it, then visit friends for a weekend. It’ll die and you’ll feel sad enough that you still think about it five years later…or something like that, I don’t know, it definitely wasn’t me that happened to 👀
True! And agreed!
There will be a day when AI does this brilliantly. Fine. But it’s still not there yet. Right now to believe it is you have to have a spectacularly low bar for quality and taste.
This. 100% this. Every person so far who has written some inflammatory “you don’t need to use design tools” anymore nonsense has gone on to show off their vibe coding workflow where they build Bluesky from Temu based on a pre-existing design and ready-made components. 🤡
Despite our many advancements to do more with less, how do we spend our time saved? We bake bread. Build furniture. Play vinyl. Shoot on film. We choose to do some things the hard way because living is feeling the friction of the world around us.
Never forget the world we were promised.
This is hustle culture I can get behind.
The classic “You wouldn’t steal a car” anti-privacy message, except it says “You wouldn’t steal an LLM”
Very excited to watch valley bros explain how stealing models is bad but stealing books to train models is absolutely fine.
A wooden desk with a monitor, microphone, mechanical keyboard, trackpad, water bottle and Mac.
The underside of a dead with extension leads, cables and a microphone signal booster, all coiled and fixed to the desk.
Replaced the massive white desktop on my desk with a warmer wood(ish) one. To balance out the tidy photo, there’s also this extremely mid cable management.
I love it. Biiig fan of sneaking pop culture references into product!
Dub.co’s login form, with a panic@thedis.co placeholder in the email field.
Okay okay, who‘s the elder emo at @dub.co?
Congrats, friend!
Midsommar but the put her in a Mr Blobby costume
The only reason I’m not mad about not being asked to star in this is knowing I’d have been faded out like @paulo.is was.
(But for real, it’s a very nice end-of-year recap and we’ve done some lovely stuff!)
Hulkenberg qualifying Verstappen is a fitting conclusion to this season. Just full of surprises! #F1
It’s the most wonderful time of the year
My Apple Music replay top artists: 1. The Kills 2. Taylor Swift 3. The Killers 4. ØDYSSEE 5. Søren Søstrom
My Apple Music replay top albums: 1. Live from the Royal Albert Hall by The Killers 2. Live at the Electric Ballroom by Rolo Tomassi 3. Beat by Charlo xcx 4. The Tortured Poets Department by Taylor Swift
My Apple Music replay is heavily influenced by the fact that I exclusively listened to The Kills on a 6-hour round trip to Cardiff because I thought they were a support act at a gig but they weren’t. Also, I really got into live albums again?
