👏 Canada 👏 Post 👏 is 👏 a 👏 public 👏 service 👏
Nothing proves how capitalism has brain rotted everyone than thinking the post office, hospitals, public transit, libraries, etc. need to turn a profit to be worthwhile.
Canada is a climate pariah. We're failing to meet our international obligations and while most of the country has done a good job of reducing emissions, all that good work is undone by 2 provinces jacking up theirs.
Thank you Smith, Moe & now Carney for making it worse.

Banning algorithmic pricing ought to be a no-brainer call for any government: people don’t like to be ripped off, surveilled, or treated differently from their peers.
Algorithm pricing does all three of those things.
He said the summit will pitch "Canada, Inc.".... "If we don't get our resources out of the ground expeditiously in an investment-friendly regulatory climate, we are going to miss this window one more time and I don't know how lucky of a country we think we are, but we don't have the nine lives of a cat," Goldy Hyder, the CEO of the Business Council of Canada, said.
(1/2) Carney sees us as "Canada Inc." But we shouldn't run like a corporation.
This is were we really need to talk about 'growing the economy' versus actually making it work for people and the framing of regulation.
And the talk (speed/deregulation/oil/LNG) in this article is concerning. #CDNpoli
Trainees attending @canacn.bsky.social 2026 Meeting - @franklandlab.bsky.social and I are co-hosting the Circuits & Behaviour satellite and seeking 4 trainee speakers (one of whom will receive a $500 "Best Talk" prize). Register by next Friday for consideration:

AI is profoundly unpopular. A recent NBC News poll found that among 18-34 year-olds, AI's net favorability rating is -44. *Negative 44*. Those are basically serial killer numbers. It's not much better among women 18-49. (Men over 50 and upper class are the only ones who like AI, and just barely.)
Corporations have found a creepy new way to rip you off. It's called "surveillance pricing" and it's coming for all of us at the checkout if we don't stop it.
Add your name and help stop retailers from price-gouging us with the help of Big Tech: ndp.ca/surveillance-pricing
From our Prime Minster, who I am increasingly convinced actually hates education.
This is the prime minister who cut $2.7 billion in foreign aid despite promising during the election not to cut it.
This is the prime minister who cut $231.9 million in funding for dental care and prescription coverage for very vulnerable asylum-seekers.
Talking about kindness.

The Orange Cat Brain Atlas is here. 🧠🐈
Today, we published the first comprehensive cellular map of the orange cat brain. The new atlas reveals a single, specialized neuron responsible for behaviors like staring at walls, knocking objects off tables, and the 3am "zoomies."
Congratulations!!!
Our paper is out today!!! (not an April fool's day joke) Congrats to authors @azulsilva.bsky.social, @belalima-paiva.bsky.social, Ele Pronier, and mostly to the amazing scientist and human being who led this project @facuumm.bsky.social

Agreed. One reviewer complained that we didn’t incorporate gender into the proposal. In mice
Avi Lewis: "We have shoved Canada Post so far into the market mindset that every few months we have a national conversation about why isn't Canada Post making money. Does the ambulance service make money? Do the police services make money? We're talking about a fundamental public service."
Our current medical establishment seeks to erase the nightmares of 6 years ago and reinforce memories of unpleasant mitigations.
However, unfortunately, for them, only they care about lockdowns today and so the MAHA coalition is cracking up.
My latest.
With the rumblings around CIHR wanting to move to one cycle per year not going away, in consultation with a diverse stakeholder group, we have put together a letter for CIHR leadership. Please consider signing this letter and share/RT: docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F... @cannabrain.bsky.social
I defended my PhD 10 years ago today. That was the least remarkable thing that happened that day. Sharing something I wrote about it last year. Since then "the horrors persist but so do we." And with dignity.

People re-elected Stephen Harper, but haven't realised it yet
Graphic with Parliament Hill in the background and a header asking: “What would your conditions be for supporting a Liberal minority government?” Text shows NDP leadership candidate Avi Lewis’ response. He says his one condition would be full implementation of proportional representation, decided by a citizens’ assembly, not delayed by studies or referendums. He argues it would end strategic voting and prevent false majorities where a party wins about 36% of the vote but gains near absolute power, putting policies at risk. A headshot of Avi Lewis appears with a caption identifying him and the February 23, 2026 Rabble questionnaire. Footer reads: “Learn more at fairvote.ca.”
What would it take for NDP support in a Liberal minority?
Rabble asked every leadership candidate. We’re highlighting all who said proportional representation should be a condition.
Here’s Avi Lewis’ response:
HELL YEAH THAT'S HOW YOU DO IT
BUT, YOU KNOW, ALWAYS PUT IT IN THE HEADLINE
Neither Conservative nor Liberal Canadian gov'ts understand how university research works. They think that a few top people are key, don't provide increased funding once these hotshots move in, so that more proposals are chasing the same $. Lots of 🇨🇦 talent unfunded and unseen. 🧪
Please spread the word about a postbac position in Behavioral Neuroscience at Dartmouth with me, Shelley Warlow, and Kyle smith. The postbac will contribute to collaborative projects across the three labs aimed at studying the neuroscience of motivation and reward learning.

Plenty of academics have already commented on this with the most obvious flaw - grad students aren’t “merely” employees to whom professors outsource running experiments.
But even in industry, thinking of junior employees as drones who can be replaced by AI is a problematic fallacy we should avoid.
Registration for the @canacn.bsky.social 2026 Neural Circuits and Behaviour satellite meeting is now live! Looking forward to hosting this event with @franklandlab.bsky.social again, and we're looking to have 4 trainee talks as part of the satellite. Register at www.eventbrite.com/e/1984146883...
Congrats!!!
