I was walking around Lowes looking at plants and started thinking about how garden centers should have designated Deer Resistant sections. Some of the people who sell plants at the farmers market have started labeling them.

I was happy to read that because he’s a certified service dog, Aloka was able to fly in the cabin of the airplane and sit in a seat instead of being in a carrier. 💙

It grows wild here and seems to spread. The patch I saw a couple weeks ago looked much larger than last year. The flowers don’t have those long spurs like yours does.

Relatives for sure! We have a different plant called wild ginger here, Asarum Canadense or Canada Wild Ginger. The leaves are smaller than the wild ginger you posted a few days ago. I need to get some photos to post.

Your memory is correct! I think some caterpillars build webs to stay protected from predators while they are waiting to change to butterflies or moths. It's pretty cool that such tiny creatures can build these fancy webs.

Weather whiplash here too! A couple of days ago, it was 90 degrees and this morning it’s 40 and I’m wearing fleece again. Happy Monday!

Oh yes, definitely. I planted green and yellow bean seeds last week. Last summer I harvested enough green beans to be able to blanch and freeze some. Loved having them this winter. 🫛

I grew purple, yellow, and green beans last summer and the harvest for purple was so much smaller than the others. If I had more room, I might grow them anyway as an ornamental because they really are a good looking plant.
