France! Le Pen needs to collaps, so that one of the most important nations in the EU doesn't fall to the extreme right!

Definitely true at the moment, but I do think—as a result of the weaker USN and the US isolationist viewpoint among a large part of the people and politicians—that Europe will be forced to invest a lot more into its naval capability. Not only frigates, but destroyers and MCMVs.
Like in 10-15 years.
Maybe, I am not so sure. Instant direct support, is ofc not an option. But if Australia was attacked by China, would we just stand by? I don't think so. I am also not sure that we would be passive in case that South Korea or Japan was attacked by China (should that happen).
Sure it would be more complicated, and the distances involved would make things harder, but I still see that the world's big democracies and free-trade nations are getting more connected.
But I do get your skepticism.
I get your point and think it is very valid... But I do believe that a grander form of trade/alliance/cooperation between the mentioned parts, is where we are heading. Not only in free trade, but also greater froms of cooperation. Australia and New Zealand are much like Canada, in culture and trade.
Not sure about the Philippines; the rest I definitely like, plus Ukraine (and to me that is none-negotiable, we need them, and they us)
And I would appreciate it, where you don't assume I am one either.
It is not a question of being a doomseer, but imagining that the US is back on track just by getting the orange guy out of office is fooling yourself.
It is a reality, and it is so much easier to find where focus should be, to improve the lives of people, and combat the rightwingers viewpoint.
I am sorry, but claiming that good hope, and shutting your eyes for the current situation is not working either. The Dems have tried that since Obama, and it seems not to have worked on the population at large.
Not in the question of soldiers or planes, but in the ability to fight a war, to have the tools needed for a potential conflict, and strength of knowing when the circumstanses are against it.
Much of this is ofc political, but the damage done by MAGA on military leadership... It will take decades!
then no chance of getting back on track for the US.
Trump and MAGA broke the US superpower status (in my eyes). It is now simply just one great power, among a few others.
Still powerful, but with nowhere near the diplomatic power that it had. And I honestly question if the military power is there.
And looking from the outside, at American apathy among its voters, the lack of thinking longer than just the next election cycle, and the gamification of US politics, leaves me with the impression that unless the US public and political power really works on the mother of all reform->
Honestly, being from Europe, and looking at the US, I don't think there is a "second age of greatness" around the corner. I don't even see it comming in the next decade.
Your arguments are stong, and I wont argue that it can't be done. But the number of diplomatic bridges burnt down is staggering.
1.100 or 11.000?
"But Kamala could start a war." 😱
This is fucked up. On so many levels I cannot comprehend it anymore!
If anything, the main bleeding from the social democrats is to the left this time, not the right; that arguably means the migration question has been solved in the voters' minds (for now). The main challenges have changed; one of these is the apparent shift from party to personal votes.
What is far more interesting is that S is effectively the only large party left in Danish politics, with a bit more than a fifth of the total voters.
The issue for S this time, seems to be the coalition, that formed the former government + a growing issue of cuts in the welfare state.
expanded...and one of the other parties got some momentum (but combined, the two combined are actually less than DF was some years ago).
The left also expaneded...
I think you really misread the result to make it fit your own conclusion instead of looking at the background and the result.
Yes, it is the worst result for S since 1905. It is also the worst result for V in the entire history of the party. The far right in Danish politics got a new party—
Yet nuclear defense is not included, among other reasons, because no clear deal is made so far with the French. Untill that is the case, the work is not involving any other part than Denmark.
Yet the question of Nuclear weapons, is and has been for some time, been an exception.
That is missing the point, that cooporation on a nuklear weapons umbrella, is contested in the kingdom, and looks past the agreements on limitations on the nuklear option.
Hence the governments of both Greenland and the Fareo Islands will have to approve of the option.
