I think this thought every single day…
Two striking things about the new surge of far-right ideology and activity inadvertently confirm that the changes over the past several decades have been immense and impactful. One is how these brutal politics are a backlash against the vision of interconnection. The other is in how the right sees the many elements—environmentalism, feminism, queer rights, equality, racial justice, and inclusion, even kindness—as related, as part of the same cosmology (or in their terms, agenda)—all part of the new world struggling to be born and sharing some ideological essentials. The dying old world is furious at all of it and lurches into monstrosity in reaction to it. I've often thought our enemies believe in us even when we don't believe in ourselves, and this is confirmation that they believe we've changed the world in consequential ways, and with a coherent vision.

A looming storm is forecast to drop more than 2 feet of snow in parts of the Sierra, prompting the weather service to issue winter storm warnings. It’s the second round of winter storm warnings this month in the Sierra, a rarity for April.
Snow drought won't be wiped out, but this will help some.
Whenever I encounter someone who believes in using the Oxford comma, I find myself encouraged, delighted, and hopeful.

A sub-adult #humpbackwhale entered the #Coolongolook River. On Monday it stranded on a shallow sandbar. Four boats of rescuers "...successfully refloated the animal on Tuesday."

This is how I feel being an American. I wish my grandparents would have just stayed in Finland. I wonder what they would think of this world now. They would probably want to put this lampshade on their head too.
