π thank you, Bill!
very charred. π’
low snow yet they still haven't cleared Hwy 89. I'm guessing the road was open for you to get up to the summit, otherwise, respect if you climbed up there on skis.
way back when, I would have loved to get a heli ride up there in the winter to telemark down the road to Manzanita Lake
very well written!
π youβre very welcome! Iβm glad you enjoyed them, thank you!
Snoqualmie Falls
The Cascades - a waterfall at the confluence of Tamarack Creek & Cascade Creek in Yosemite National Park, which continues as Tamarack Creek down into the valley to merge with the Merced River.
Mill Creek Falls in Lassen Volcanic National Park. Mill Creek on the right meets East Sulphur Creek on the left right at the top of the Falls. I feel very fortunate to have this pic as the entire area was decimated by the Dixie Fire in 2021. even that pretty bridge turned to ash.

π thank you very much, Freda! π€
methinks you need to see more waterfalls.
Iβm honored that you do, Freda, thank you! π«Άπ½
be watchful & stay safe. I have a feeling our fire season in northern CA is going to be scary this year.
Hwy 89 curves around a very pristine Lake Helen & from the left: Mt Diller, Pilot Peak, Eagle Peak, Mt Lassen, & Mt Helen, at the top of Lassen Volcanic National Park remember Kings Creek in yesterday's pic? it begins high on the eastern slope of Mt Helen (opposite side from this pov). and what keeps Lake Helen so pristine, you ask? no wading, swimming, & nothing that floats.
I know I posted a Mt Lassen pic yesterday but it's #BlueSkyMonday & #MountainMonday & this is the widest panorama I have of Lake Helen & Lassen Peak. believe me, it was a huff getting up this talus slope to take the pic. see ALT for more info.

π thanks so much!
well itβs not actually open yet. DOT says open no restrictions, though Lassen website says still closed, but actively clearing snow.
an alternate road trip planned for next Thursday, a drive up past Lewiston Reservoir & Trinity Lake to Hwy 3 then north to Scott Mtn Creek area & other creeks.
π many thanks!
π thank you , Robyn!
Mount Lassen & Manzanita Lake
Mount Lassen & Lake Helen
unnamed waterfall on Kings Creek
Kings Creek Falls
here's Lassen from the north above Manzanita Lake & from the south above Lake Helen. and a pair of waterfall pics on Kings Creek further downstream from that meadow. great loop trail to see it all.
now that's talent!
I can search for my reading glasses while I'm wearing them...
yes I see that. darn. I've already been up there a number of times this year but only to Manzanita Lake. I'll go still if there's good clouds & very little wind.
roads.dot.ca.gov is erroneous
π thank you very much!
Hwy 89 is open so I'm going up there on Tuesday. the north entrance at Manzanita Lake is just 45 minutes away from my house.
π thank you, Deborah!
I just checked the CA road conditions page & Hwy 89 is open all the way through the park. my daughter & I will be going up there Tuesday. hurray!
sounds frigid. I'm guessing you had good snow camping gear and a lot of stamina!
the road is open. going up there Tuesday. yay!
π thank you!
